The Browns got the Jets' first- and second-round picks in this year's draft, plus three players off the Jets' roster -- defensive end Kenyon Coleman, quarterback Brett Ratliff and defensive back Abram Elam. Ratliff is unlikely to see the field for the Browns any time soon, but Coleman and Elam are both solid additions to the defense, and the Browns can add two good young players if they draft wisely.
But the story here is the Jets. The move to select Sanchez was a surprise, but not a total shock: The Jets didn't hide the fact that they liked Sanchez enough that they were willing to trade up to get him. The biggest surprise is that they traded all the way up to the fifth pick, where they'll have to give Sanchez a huge contract, probably in the neighborhood of the six-year, $72 million deal the Falcons gave No. 3 overall pick Matt Ryan last year.
Of course, Ryan turned out to be well worth it. The Jets think they got a similar player in Sanchez.

This dope couldn't even win on the road against Oregon State, I'm sure he will be great in Buffalo and Foxboro in December.

a franchise quarteback??? Wow!!! Somehow me think playing against a Bill Belicheck defense in the NFL is just a little tougher than going against a pathetic Washington State defense in the PAC 10! Me think Sanchez will have MAJOR trouble adjusting, but dude good luck..Franshise QB-hahahahahahah When's his induction to the Hall Of Fame??

Sanchez may turn out to be a great QB but New York seems to be giving up a lot for the chance.Hopefully the free agents signed will be more then enought to make up for Coleman and Elam.
At least we don't have to watch the Jets being coached by Mangini this year who is too conservative and can't seem to motivate his players. After an 8-3 start in which they lost to Denver , Seattle and Oakland they didnt even make the playoffs. With the final embarrassment being the lost to Miami at home.
The Jets still need a couple of receivers , hopefully they will fill that need before the season starts.

Good. The Jets went out on a limb here. I like it. This is a team that needs to make a splash, and today they did.

Hay David! Don't forget our west coast (lack of) wonder Alex Smith. So far we here are still paying this guy to sit around and do nothing. His performance so far is maybe a D+ at best. Now there is talk again this year of starting him again. E-gad!!

I am biased because my son played with Kellen in high school and I have watched every game of Kellen's I could possibly watch. I believe Kellen would have taken the Jets deep into the playoffs last year because the offensive line improved -- so would have Pennington. The Jets would have been more a team due to time bothe played with the team and I believe Farve's shoulder gave out. Kellen is a gamer, very smart, can throw on the run (he never had a consistent O line), has a very strong arm and is extremely accurate. Sometimes he overthrows when he should throw a finesse pass over the defense. I also liked Ratliff -- Jets gave up key players and two good chances to get some depth. Go back and look at the 2007 games, the Jets beat the Steelers, almost beat the Ravens but for the McCarrens pop up to Ray Lewis. Even with no protection they were close on most of the games and Coles was out. Most of the interceptions were because Kellen was pressing hard to make plays when down by two scores and a short clock with Cotchery doubled. Will the Jets management feel they need to start Sanchez because they are paying a lot of money similar to the 49's QB situation the last several years?

I think Mark Sanchez could become the next Matt Leinart... now all the Jets need to do is get Kurt Warner and they're golden.

I think Sanchez will be a pretty good QB,as does EVERY expert I have read and heard. How good, nobody knows but he'll be good enough. This deal sure helped the Browns a lot though, that's for sure.Coleman adds needed depth to the D-Line and Elam fills a huge need at Safety. That allowed the Browns to fix their Receiver problems by drafting Robo AND Mass, plus they were able to pick up a very under rated OLB in Veikune and add a 3rd QB to the roster in Ratliff. My sorry ass Browns need all the help we can get. Thanks,NY! - Good luck with Sanchez.
