Bill Parcells has a history of being aggressive, and the results suggest he knows what he's doing. He's taken five different teams to the playoffs as either a coach or front-office type, and is the NFL equivalent of He took the Dolphins from a one-win outfit in 2007 to AFC East champs a year later. And if he thinks Pat White is a special player, I'm not going to argue with him.
On Day 1 of the Draft, the Dolphins selected Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis with the 25th pick, and double-downed with White a round later (44th overall). Davis has been described as a top-10 talent, but character issues saw him drop to the end of the first round. But if there's anybody who can keep Davis in check it's Parcells.
Although the Dolphins had a huge need in the secondary, White might be the best value pick in this draft.
At 6-0, 195 pounds, he's not a prototypical NFL quarterback, and that's why teams were interested in seeing him at wide receiver during the Senior Bowl and the combine. He obliged, going through the drills, but also gently insisted that he could play quarterback at the next level.
His performance in the Senior Bowl game proved as much, and last week on the NFL Network, Mike Lombardi actually said White was good enough to play the position in the NFL. Today, during NFL Network's coverage, Mike Mayock echoed those sentiments, insisting that, "Don't put it past him, two or three years from now when Chad [Pennington's] gone, that he beats out Chad Henne -- or any other Chad that's hanging out."
Duly noted, sir. In the meantime, White's value lies in his versatility. Last season, the Dolphins reinvented themselves with the Wildcat, and White allows them to continue to build on that offense. Not only that, but the flexibility White provides means that Miami has addressed several needs at once, including wide receiver -- which was at the top of the to-do list heading into the draft.
And despite ESPN's Todd McShay having his Howard Dean moment while panning the pick (really, Todd, quarterbacks can't play wideout in the NFL?), I'm perfectly willing to take Parcells' word on White, whatever position he might play.
Oh, and that second-round pick the Dolphins got from the Redskins for Jason Taylor last year? Yeah, they turned that into White.

Wow! I've been a Pats fan for sometime. And I believed B.B. to be the mastermind of the NFL. That decision has been reversed!- With the master-stroke of Mr. P.! Let there be no doubt that this move bodes extremely well for the Franch. Look for da' Phins to contend regularly in da' playoffs & have a real shot at the most coveted *SB*!

Between the draft and signing undrafted players the Dolphins aquired players who made a big impact on the teams success last year. Who of us knew about K.Langford? These guys know what they're doing.
Looks like the Dolphins have finally made the best decision since the Marino era. This should give Miami and upper edge of keeping the other teams guessing as to what they will do with him in the game. Exciting player to watch as well will drive up the revenue im sure. I wouldn't put it past to say this may be a No:1 pick instead of a No:2 smart move phins to bad NE didn't get him. Class player and very coachable.
