Cardinals Shopping Anquan Boldin?

There's been plenty of offseason drama for the Arizona Cardinals. They were able to get Kurt Warner re-signed after he had a brief flirtation with San Francisco. And for a time, it looked like the situation surrounding disgruntled receiver Anquan Boldin had settled, primarily because Boldin said he was no longer disgruntled.

Apparently, either the Cardinals don't believe Boldin, or his behavior has upset them enough to have a change of heart.

There's nothing wrong with due diligence, but the Cardinals are reportedly looking at trading Boldin.
"A few" teams have called about Boldin, said coach Ken Whisenhunt, and the team, aware that stories could leak, didn't want to give the perception that it's trying to deal Boldin.

"I think it would be foolish from our standpoint not to listen to those opportunities and see what actually exists," Whisenhunt said. "Our position on Anquan has been consistent and our goal hasn't changed.

"Reaching an agreement on a new contract has been, and continues to be, the preferred result. There are other options. Those do include fielding offers about trade."
This seems foolish to me. Why would you even listen to an offer for a player you want to keep?

"No, we aren't trading him ... unless you offer us enough for him."

This opens the door for super-agent Drew Rosenhaus to play the "Arizona doesn't want him there, anyway" card if Boldin decides to hold out. It seems to me that the last thing a team should be doing is giving Rosenhaus something to complain about. Make him invent his issues with your organization.

As far as potential partners go, the New York Giants would be absolutely foolish to not make the call. Under no circumstances is Braylon Edwards a better pickup at this point. If the Chicago Bears had anything left after trading for Jay Cutler, I'd suggest they get involved too.
