Apparently, it has been a rough month for NFL agent Kirk Wood. The Arizona Republic reported that Cardinal linebacker Karlos Dansby fired Wood last weekend. Dansby has been trying to get a long term deal for a while, but has been franchised two years in a row.
And then on Wednesday, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported in his blog that Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans has fired Wood too. Ryans and CB Dunta Robinson are sitting out voluntary workouts, hoping to get the Texans to negotiate again. Ryans is under contract but was hoping to renegotiate to receive a longer term deal with the team.
Ryans is someone who loves football and loves his role as a leader of the team. I can't imagine he enjoys sitting out of any workout, given that he won't leave the field even when he is hurt.
On the other hand, Ryans has been unhappy with how the Texans have handled negotiations with Robinson and him, so it's hard to guess what the firing means other than his agent is probably not very happy. Both the Texans and Ryans have expressed an interest in a long term deal but have not agreed on a number.

Sorta interesting. Now that the Texans have went on a signing spree picking up various DLs and LBs, has any of the Texans team bloggers draft selections changed? Some of the mocks have shown a bigger team interest in the safety and cornerback positions with their picks now. Is there any validity to these suggestions? What are the chances of a big name running back coming into the fold since the defense is being fortified pretty heavily thru free agency already? Just asking. I haven't seen too much news on the subject, but judging by the lack of stories concerning the teams mindset, I'd have to guess that the Texans are playing things pretty close to the vest.

I am convinced they will take linebacker in the first or trade down. That the linebacker signings make no difference.
