With the not-so-shocking news that the Broncos and Jay Cutler will be filing for their inevitable divorce, more than a handful of teams in the NFL will surely be trying to get their hands on the Pro Bowl signal-caller. Apparently, the Bears are among those who will be in hot pursuit. I have been very critical of Bears' brass in the past, namely general manager Jerry Angelo and head coach Lovie Smith, when it comes to building an offense. They sure know their defense, but for every Matt Forte there is a Rex Grossman (he was a first-rounder, remember?) or Cedric Benson (fourth pick overall). Should they pull off a deal for Cutler, though, I'd gladly eat crow.
The Bears have publicly supported Kyle Orton as the starting quarterback, and he's not bad. Jay Cutler, however, is a franchise quarterback. Orton will never be more than the proverbial game manager. Those errant throws that elude an open Devin Hester downfield would become a thing of the past should Cutler suit up in the Windy City.
It's true there are other holes on the roster, and most of them are more urgent than the quarterback position. It's also true the Bears would have to pay quite the handsome price to land Cutler. Allowing these reasons to get in the way of landing a Pro Bowl quarterback would simply keep the Bears offense in neutral, though. There hasn't been a franchise quarterback in Chicago since the 1940s (Sid Luckman!), unless you want to consider Jim McMahon or Bobby Douglass as qualifiers.
Go get him, Jerry. And please don't let this be some sort of a sick April Fool's joke.

The Bears?????
pul-lease, Talk about your mis-matchs, a gunslinging QB in a ball control run oriented offense? This aint gonna happen, Chicago has nothing to offer to make this happen, the Lions, Vikings and Jets all havemuch bettr chances of landing Cutler...

They went to the Super Bowl with a gunslinger (Rex Grossman) who was a much worse QB than Cutler.

Jay Cutler would be good fit. He has the arm strength to get the ball to Devin Hester, and Ron Turner's offense will allow Cutler to be a gunslinger.
Kyle Orton and the #18th overall seems like it would be fair compensation, especially with Denver butchering Cutler's trade value every day.
And, Cutler actually wants to play for Chicago. Cutler could refuse to go to other places (and he's shown he's willing to do whatever it takes). Plus, It will be like he's back in Vanderbilt, with Chris Williams protecting his blind side, and him throwing passes to Earl Bennett. Cutler would be perfect.
Oh, and he grew up a Bears fan.

Sorry, I don't see it happening. Chicago doesn't have a legit #1 reciever (Devin who...doesn't he return punts?) and is geared up for smash mouth football with Forte. Their lack of anything relevant during free agency really has me questioning if this is merely an attempt to deflect criticism from lack of effort. I am sure Denver can get more than a 17 and Orton, and doubt they have any interest in Orton at all. Lions could bundle the 20th overall along with #33 and #65 and still keep the number one overall pick and a third rounder.

Afterall, Denver is out to get the most value they can get out of Cutler, and if in the process they can stick Cutler in Detroit, thats just another parting jab they can get hime with. Detroit obviously has more need the Chicago, and more to bargain with. The only thing tht could throw a wrench into things is if Cutler refuses to go to detroit. But Cutler to Megatron would be an impressive duo and Detriot could pursue a stud OL with pick number one.

Why would the bears want a whinny player like cutler. And if you dont remember I think it was the offense carrying the team most of the season. Kyle Orton is a very good qb, I dont know what you expect him to do with the horrible receivers he has to try and throw the ball to. Jay cutler is just a crying baby that hasnt done anything yet. He is way over hyped.
