Update: Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth has been charged with killing a pedestrian last month while driving drunk. If convicted, Stallworth would face as many as 15 years in prison.Stallworth recently struck and killed Mario Reyes near Miami Beach while driving his Bentley over the speed limit. Afterward, a video of police handling Stallworth at the scene of the accident sneaked onto the internet, causing some serious controversy.
But that hubbub will pale in comparison to the firestorm that will erupt if the rumored (for the second time) news that Stallworth is being charged with DUI manslaughter comes to fruition. The Miami Herald is now reporting that that's exactly what will happen in the coming days, citing a source close to the investigation.
DUI manslaughter charges are expected to be filed Wednesday afternoon against Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, alleging the football player was driving drunk last month when he struck and killed a pedestrian on Miami Beach, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation. This news would seemingly indicate that the blood tests that police administered at the scene showed that Stallworth was indeed intoxicated while driving his automobile. The primary controversies -- in a legal sense -- surrounding the case involve not only the toxicology report from the wide receiver, but Reyes' failure to be within a crosswalk while moving across the street. However, that negligence may be nullified by Stallworth exceeding the speed limit and, of course, being under the influence.

If the DUI reports are true, then he's done.....career is going to be over and he's going to do some real time behind bars. Never mind the fact that the Reyes family is RIGHTFULLY going to take him for all he's got.
Just another tragic lesson on how the more you have, the more you have to be careful if you're going to keep it.
Stallworth will survive.....unfortunately, his victim doesn't have that opportunity.

He should have hired a driver if he was going to be drinking. The deceased was not in a crosswlk, but it does not matter in this case. Stallworth was drunk and apparently going too fast to stop / avoid the man.

Chump shouldn't have been in the street in the first place. It sounds like Stallworth was still drunk when he headed out that morning. Both are responsible for this. The Reyes family should get nothing. Stallworth will have to man up and take responsibility for his actions which should include prison time and fines. Reyes paid for his mistake with his life. Cross walks are there for a reason.

Am I missing something. If he was drunk, by all means charge him, but when did cops start doing blood tests at the scene. They are not doctors and I would not agree to have one take my blood.

can someone please explain to me why this low life piece of trash is still not in jail, nor has he even been charged.. he failed the field sobriety test, was speeding, killed this man and still has not been charged. any of us, not on a major league sports team, would have gone straight to jail, been charged and arraigned the next morning.. wtf..? this is supposed to be justice...??? the reyes family just hit the lottery, but, this piece of trash will not need it where he is going... but wait, sports people do not do hard time.. look at o.j., plaxico, he still has not been charged, shoots himself in nyc, with the sullivan act, and he is negotiating for no jail time.. the balless prosecutor his "negotiating" his plea bargain. wtf..? again... are there two sets of laws.. us, and rich black sports figures.

shymtnranch--As long as these lowlife's lean on the race card, there will always be two sets of law.

Joba "The Hut" Chamberlain just got off of a DUI in Nebraska with probation. And this clown hasn't been charged yet. Somewhere I remember a term "...and justice for all" unless you've been involved with a pro athlete. This is BS

Yankees' Joba Chamberlain pleads guilty to DUI
He did not get off of anything. When you plead guilty, you are admitting you are guilty. As I remember, Joba did not kill anybody either. Nice try....

they are both wrong simple as that. he crossed the street illegally and stallworth was drunk and speeding. the mans family deserves nothing, if he were to hit the guy during the day sober it wouldnt change the fact that the guy was jaywalking. he took a risk crossing the street without using crosswalk and it cost him his life, but stallworth should definitely get jail time for his actions.

This is all a conspiracy. Just look at the picture at the top of the page. It's obviously a fake. Any Borwns fan can tell you that Donte didn't have a football in his hands all year.

What a waste. Stallworth is a fool for driving drunk. Yet he killed someone who very well ran a high chance of dying on the grill of a sober motorists' car. The victim was crossing a busy blvd. Stallworth should be punished but sadly the victim's family will sue and extort millions even though their family member died because he jaywalked.

What a waste of a bystander's life and a fine automobile (Bentley), another case of an overpaid athlete lacking any common sense. Dante will soon be rooming with that loser Pacman Jones.

Is driving drunk and not killing someone better than driving drunk and killing someone? Having lost a child to a drunk driver, I am amazed that we as a society still don't recognize the reality that Alcohol is just as much as a drug as any other illegal drug out there. Until we as a society have the guts to treat Acohol the same as any other illegal drug, our kids will continue to pay the price for those who don't have integrity or character to make good decisions. I am so disgusted by those who drink& drive and just because they haven't killed someone yet think it's okay! The man that killed my son had been bust many times before, just this time he managed to kill himself also leaving behind a hurting wife, child , & grandchild! This foolishness will go on because we reward those who don't have the guts to make the right choices & mock the ones that do because we don't respect the lives of others much less ourselves anymore in America! Oh that's right beer is different becase we make to much money off the sale of it! But, I promise you that you will have a different attitude when you see your child in a casket! Our problem in America is not financial, it is moral!!
