When you commit $41 million in guaranteed money to a free agent, you don't want the words pled, not guilty or charges to ever appear in a sentence with your new franchise player. But that's what the Redskins have been facing, as Albert Haynesworth pled not guilty to two misdemeanor traffic charges on Monday in Tennessee. Haynesworth posted $1,000 bail (which he probably could have fished out of the cushions in his couch) to stay free while waiting for the court date.
The trouble stems from a Dec. 13 accident caused when Haynesworth tried to pass another driver at high speed and caused a wreck. The other driver was seriously injured
Haynesworth is facing the possibility of six months in jail and a fine that is negligible, but his biggest problem will be the likely civil suit from the other driver once the criminal charges are resolved.

I don't think anyone really goes to jail for this sort of thing, but he should give the victim a lot of money and not fight it.

Whats really funny about all of this is that nothing was ever mentioned until after he signed his contract with the skins, and it happened over 2 months before he even signed his contract, the other part that is funny is how they never say how he waited with the other driver until police and paramedics arrived and cleared him to leave, and i want to know how they know he passed him at a high speed when he was the one who called the police and paramedics to the scene....

The district attorney waited until Haynesworth was a public enemy in TN, then attacked him after he left the Titans. A sad political move to get re-elected by trying to make the people happy.
That is why there was such a long wait for any charges to appear. Go commit a crime yourself, I guarantee you wont have to wait two months to receive your charges, it will be less than two hours!

I wanna know how everybody forgot that Haynesworth had a previous vehicular manslaughter where a pregnant woman was killed, then three months later had a DUI conviction...THEN this took place...Then he got the 100 Million dollar contract.
And people wanna bar Mike Vick! This is sick!

Actually it CAN take a while to be charged with a crime and I'm sick and tired of alll these sports "Celebrities" getting away with murder, They do it all over around here, a basketball player just got pulled over for like 85 in a 35 with his 5 year old son in the car. Its disgusting.
