Dolphins WRs Not Big Mel Kiper Fans

It seems Mel Kiper can't open his mouth without upsetting someone. First, he went off on ESPN colleague Todd McShay (wait, what?), and now he's drawn the ire of the Dolphins' wide receivers after dismissing the group that has played together since 2008.

Brandon London, a former Giants practice-squadder and part-time model before coming to Miami, was especially bothered by the comments, and took it upon himself to share Kiper's message of hate* with his teammates in an effort to motivate them.
"I said, 'OK, I'm going to find it, I'm going to download it, and in that first receiving meeting that we have, I'm going to play it,'" London said ... "And that's going to set the tone. We don't have T.O., we don't have Larry Fitzgerald. But we've got a bunch of hungry, hungry receivers, and guys that [Bill] Parcells and Coach [Tony] Sparano see want to work, we want to get better. So we're going to keep working, and just watch. Just watch."
And Ernest Wilford. Don't forget him, even though he doesn't fall into any of the neatly defined categories London mentions.

Seriously, while I take London's point, I also get where Kiper is coming from: the Dolphins could use some downfield, big-play receivers. After all, I thought T.J. Houshmandzadeh would've been a good fit in Miami, and I suspect Chad Pennington felt similarly.

Teammate Davone Bess, who enters his second season with the Dolphins after catching 54 passes as a rookie, isn't quite so bothered by Kiper's observations.
"Most players will get mad or frustrated, but I love it, because it's always keeping me humble," Bess said of the criticism. "Knowing that there's always someone out there to knock you down."
It's an interesting perspective, and one, ironically, that Kiper is probably quite familiar with. And who knows, maybe he's humbled every time somebody mentions his wig.
