Who's Left on the Free-Agent Market?

Orlando Pace and Torry HoltWhile a lot of the NFL's big-name free agents have found homes for 2009, there are still some very recognizable talents lingering on the market. With that in mind, FanHouse's NFL team has picked out the best of the remaining crop. Six writers took part in a quick-fire poll, with each asked to rank their top-10 guys out of a group of 20-plus players still available in free agency. Players received 10 points for a first-place vote down to one point for a 10-place vote.

Check out the gallery after the jump to find out who FanHouse thinks could still make an impact next season.

Top Remaining Free Agents

    1. Torry Holt, Wide receiver (51 points)
Who Wants Him?: Holt's supposed to be visiting Jacksonville, and with the Jags woefully short on receivers, could be a perfect fit there.

    2. Chris McAlister, Cornerback (43 points)
Who Wants Him?: Despite lingering knee issues, McAlister climbed our list for the potential he still has at age 31. Former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan would love to bring McAlister to the Jets.

    3. Byron Leftwich, Quarterback (40 points)
Who Wants Him?: With interest lower than anticipated, Leftwich may wind up back in Pittsburgh as Big Ben's backup. He could still get a chance to chase a starting spot somewhere like Tampa Bay.

    4. Derrick Brooks, Linebacker (37 points)
Who Wants Him?: After 15 seasons in the league, Brooks looks like a future Hall of Famer. He may just retire if he can't find a good situation, but Seattle certainly has a hole after trading Julian Peterson.

    5. Orlando Pace, Offensive tackle (32 points)
Who Wants Him?: Baltimore's made the biggest push so far, bringing in Pace for a recent visit, but it's unclear if the Ravens will make an offer or not.

    6. Jason Taylor, Defensive end (26 points)
Who Wants Him?: There's a long line of teams that are trying to land Taylor, even after he struggled in 2008. The most likely landing spot? It might be New England - the Patriots love resurrecting veteran careers.

    7. Cato June, Linebacker (24 points)
Who Wants Him?: Despite being a reliable linebacker, June's prospects are hurt by his inability to play outside of a Tampa-2 scheme. Buffalo's had him in for a visit, and would be a nice fit.

    8. Dre Bly, Cornerback (16 points)
Who Wants Him?: No one's been knocking down the door yet, but there are teams out there - like Minnesota or Atlanta, for instance - that would like to bring in a veteran defensive back for depth purposes.

    9. Jeff Garcia, Quarterback (12 points)
Who Wants Him?: Rumors had him closing in on a contract with Oakland, to serve as backup for JaMarcus Russell, but nothing has been finalized yet.

    10. Ken Lucas, Defensive back (9 points)
Who Wants Him?: Lucas has some a couple good years left in him, but Carolina wanted its cap money instead. Miami will be wise to give Lucas a look.
