If you're a prospective NFL draftee, there's are few experiences more nerve-wracking than waking up on the day of your pro day. You know that with a good performance, you're draft stock could skyrocket, but with a bad day, you could cost yourself millions of dollars. For Ball State quarterback Nate Davis, his Pro Day ended up being a disaster, but not because of anything he did. Instead, the issue was that only one team showed up to watch him work out, and that was the Colts, who only had a short drive to get over to Muncie. For a quarterback who opted to leave school early to enter the draft, it's hard to imagine a worse fate. The draft may be still a month away, but Davis has already been stood up.The knocks on Davis are his lack of height, the spread offense he put up his numbers in, and, according to NFL.com, a learning disability that leaves teams worried that he might struggle to pick up the playbook. Teams did get to see Davis at the scouting combine, so it's not as if they don't have a solid book on him, but it's hard to imagine an interested team not bothering to make it to his Pro Day.
The complete lack of interest is a little baffling, as Davis was thought to be in the middle of a pack of the "next wave" of QB prospects. While Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez and Josh Freeman are thought to be first-round picks, the quarterback depth drops way off behind them. After leading Ball State to a 12-0 regular season record, Davis entered the draft thinking he would have a chance to take advantage of the lack of QB depth in this draft. Instead, he's now got to hope just to be drafted.

NFL teams come up with such dumb reasons to ignore some players, and then draft others.

You are totally correct Adam. I hope this kid can prove all of the "experts" wrong. The "experts" were right about Unitas, Roma, Montana, ......And they were really "right" about Alex Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, .........

it might be a case of teams 1) figuring hes a project 2nd day pick at which they already know what he has and don't want to commit the resources or 2) he is such a jewel no team wants to tip there hand on that there gonna grab this gem other than the team what has Peyton for the next...honestly Peyton could go ages.
Wish the kid luck. Hate to see a LD hold him back.

Nate Davis could be a real suprise as a quarterback. The kid can really sling the ball. If the Colts draft him, it could be a lot of sitting, Manning will be around quite a while longer.

Whitlock will have something to say about this, after he recovers from having to handle the entire buffet by himself.

I watched a guy named Theisman win a Super Bowl and get to another. Joe played at a high level for many years. Sonny Jurgensen was too small, as was Montana. Like Sonny said, "it dosen't matter how fast it got there or how it got there as long as it was there when it was supposed to be there". You can't teach God (or Alah to be PC) given talent. He has it.

is it mean or does the kid appear to have small hands, combine that with his decision making towards the end of the season, i'm 4th round at the earliest the 6th would be perfect.
