Jay Cutler Skips Out on Charity Dinner

Jay Cutler and Josh McDaniels finally sat down this weekend and talked about their problems, which include, apparently, "not liking each other."

The need for these talks was escalated when Cutler put a pair of his Denver-area homes up for sale, and word on the street now is that nothing much got accomplished during the meetings. Oh yeah, and Cutler decided not to attend a charity fundraising roast for Steve Antonopulos Saturday night, despite being on the guest list.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen did make it to the charity event though, and he seemed none to pleased with the media's many questions relating to his Pro Bowl quarterback. He refused to discuss the subject and even "waved off a reporter."

Former Bronco Mark Cooper wasn't quite as quiet as Bowlen, stating that: "Times have changed around here. Now players cry when they hear they're going to be traded." Personally, I agree with him; Cutler's not so good that the Broncos should slam the phone down on anyone who calls inquiring about a trade.

Tomorrow should be a fairly nice gauge of whether or not the Cutler-McDaniels pairing is actually going to end up working in 2009, because the team has its first team meeting during the offseason training program. The best bet is that Cutler will show up and, even if he's not enthusiastic about it, go through the meeting without too much hassle.

No-showing the team meeting would be the equivalent of demanding a trade at this point, and playing the full-on role of prima donna is only going to hurt his trade value.
