Donte Stallworth Detained in Pedestrian Death Near Miami Beach

Traffic leading into Miami Beach was backed up heavily following the death of a pedestrian in a traffic accident early Saturday. Police say the man was struck and killed by a Bentley owned and operated by NFL wide receiver Donte Stallworth.

Stallworth has not been charged, according to the police, but law enforcement officials have confirmed that Stallworth was driving the Bentley when it killed the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Saturday morning at 7:17AM ET on the McArthur Causeway, and apparently, law enforcement officers drew blood from Stallworth at the scene, but stated that it was too early to determine whether or not the wide receiver was impaired while driving.

Stallworth's Bentley was taken to the police station this afternoon "with heavy front-end damage and without a passenger side mirror."

The wideout currently resides in a Miami Beach penthouse and has had issues with the local police in the past relating to automotive charges, including a resisting arrest charge in 2006, although police officials have stated that he is cooperating with their investigation.
