Now that more facts are coming out, Jaguars receiver Matt Jones appears to be in trouble, but not as much as we may have thought last night. Jones was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, but he was actually in trouble for potentially violating his probation--he tested positive for drinking alcohol in a random test in late February.Jones is not allowed to drink alcohol as part of his treatment program that he agreed to after being arrested for possession of cocaine last July. He told the judge that he had some beers while golfing. The Jacksonville Times-Union reported that Jones' agreed to the jail sentence because it prevents him from having to go back into a drug rehab facility.
The jail time could lead to additional penalties from the NFL, which could make it a very expensive six pack for Jones, but he's likely to avoid any serious suspension from this incident, which is good news for Jones and the receiver-needy Jaguars.

Pacman Jones - Days spent in jail - 0 Suspension from league - Over a Year
Matt Jones - Days spent in jail - 7+ Suspension from league - 3 games.
Deuce McAllister faced a longer suspension for water pills. (im aware this is in CBA)
If Goodell's metric for punishment is solely PR shouldnt we comment on the fact that the public seems to go soft on some players?
How does Matt not get the year in timeout for just falling to keep his nose clean?
As it stands Pacman Jones is the completely free amazingly within the law, social deviant while Matt Jones is the "understandable" criminal who we shouldnt talk about.
The NFLPA needs to get some kind of arbitrator to oversee Goodells actions.

Explain again how Pacman is free and clear of the law. I know people like to say that he has never been found guilty of any crime (people like to forget that he PLEADED GUILTY TO SUFFICANT FACTS) last year.
