Terrell Owens' future has been a source of much contentious discussion in Dallas for some time, and now, suddenly, he has been released by the Cowboys, according to Michael Smith of ESPN, as reported on SportsCenter.Owens, of course, for all his talents, is one of the most controversial wide receivers in NFL history, and just as was the case with San Francisco and Philadelphia, the man known as T.O. will leave Dallas under a cloud of heavy scrutiny.
The reaction, obviously, is shock, because, for as many problems as Owens caused in Dallas, his talents on the field, where the game is played, were undeniable. Additionally, Jerry Jones hinted that Owens would remain a Cowboy, although hindsight tells us he might have tipped his hand in an earlier interview.
But clearly, in the end, Dallas felt that the notion of team, after last season's full-on personnel debacle, was more important than individual talent. Hence, the Cowboys appear to have released the oft-troubled wide receiver.

It just surprises me that they also dropped the safety, Roy Williams, and nobody's saying a thing about it. With all the passes TO drops, Williams will be missed more by the D than TO will be missed by... anyone.

The Skins don't need him, hopefully they realize it

I wanna know where they are getting this information. Jones issued a gag order on all news coming out of the organization, and Jones has made no statements confirming this report. I am still holding out hope that T.O. will remain a Cowboy. He was one of the few players on that team that actually cared. I will be a Cowboy fan for life, but I have to question Jerry Jones' decision-making if this turns out to be true.
Either way though, with or without T.O., the Cowboys will be a team to contend with. And if you don't think so then you are quite delusional, we still got Ware, Williams, Barber, so on and so forth.

Yea right, Chelsea. They looked very impressive in the last game of the season while being crushed 44-6 by the Eagles, didn't they? Hahaha. Wade Philips can't coach and Jerry is insane. Keep telling yourself that they'll be contenders. Well, on second thought, they will probably contend - FOR LAST PLACE! Hahahaha.

Good move Jerry (bag-o-bones) Jones! The Cowgirls should've released the real loser on the team-Romo, T.O. is certain Hall of Fame pro unlike that spineless Romo who folds under pressure. This is why the Cowgirls constantly give the rest of us many memorable chuckles throughout the season.

Anybody who thinks Dallas should get Romo is an idiot who doesn't know a damn thing about football. As I recall, Romo had the highest passer rating in the NFC and was second highest in the total NFL...and he missed three games. Romo is good and will only get better. As for T.O., I'm not sure how I feel about his being released (if, indeed he has.)

Sad day in BIG D but I feel that T.O. wasn't the main culprit for this last season's demise. Coach Wade Phillips lost control of a team that needs discipline not just T.O. He is too soft of ahead coach and it doesn't help that you have an offensive coordinator that's salivating at the chance to one day Coach this team. Jason Garrett had a predicatable season and in my view he and Tony Romo are overrated. He did not get creative in any offensive plays even after getting Roy WIlliams him and T.O. were not used effectively last year. I am a Cowboys fan but I call it as it is....T.O. did not hold back his discontent with the playcalling and lack of leadership, I feel he was used as the scapegoat for last season..Tony Romo although high % passer also leads the league in interceptions not because of Owens either he juast simply can't perform under pressure. Remember the Seattle playoff game coupleof years back? Jerry Jones needs to hope that this does not bite him in the rear!! How do you replace the productivity of T.O.? well either way Im still a fan but I will watch with disappointment this season as I have for the last few....
