Jay Cutler has had better weeks. It started with rumors that the Buccaneers and Lions were both trying to trade for him, which isn't necessarily a problem except that the Broncos were a) willing to listen, and b) apparently interested in bringing in Matt Cassel to replace him. That's where things took a turn for the worst. Naturally, the Broncos denied the rumors, and ultimately nothing came of it; the Patriots traded Cassel to the Chiefs, while Tampa Bay and Detroit each continues its quarterback search. But Cutler, still shocked and awed by the news, isn't willing to put this behind him just yet -- which probably had everything to do with the Nuggets' teevee analyst going on the Dan Patrick Show to call the Broncos QB a naughty word.
On Monday, a day after predicting his career in Denver was over, Cutler announced he was taking a break from his team, opting to "lay low" instead of talking to head coach Josh McDaniels about the course of events that led them to their current predicament.
And today, the Denver Post's Mike Klis writes that there's more. (Of course there is.)
[Cutler] will meet with McDaniels next week, the team announced Tuesday.I get it, Cutler's feelings were hurt. Fair enough. But he's got to let this go. (In his defense, though, it's not like he's convening a daily press conference where his agent holds court while he does half-naked sit-ups in his driveway.)
According to a source close to Cutler, the quarterback is not upset because McDaniels tried to trade him last week to Tampa Bay in a three-team deal that would have brought quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. He's upset because he doesn't believe McDaniels' claim [that] the trade proposal was initiated by other clubs.
Assuming the club and the quarterback can work out their differences -- and there's no reason to think that they can't -- this will all be forgotten by training camp. In the meantime, hopefully McDaniels has learned a valuable lesson: when the star quarterback is sporting a bowl cut, he probably has a self-image problem. If you're thinking about trading him, do a better job of keeping it a secret until the deal is done.

I stand behind Cutler on this. He's pissed for 2 reasons:
1) McDaniels is a coward due to the fact he won't admit the truth.
2) Matt Cassell is mediocre, he had a lucky year. A straight up trade with him is a low blow. Had they tried to trade for Tom Brady, it would have been a compliment.
Either way, I think the Bronco's are down right retarded for trying to get rid of him. They've searched for a great QB ever since Elway left. To finally have one, and then let him go is nothing short of competitive suicide.

I say Cutler acts like a crybaby and just look at that picture of him. Goodness, if he's made the backup he may never get laid. He needs this starter position.

I agree. The Donks should fire McDaniels and get a head coach who won't take any of this whiny crybaby crap and ghost this chump. Maybe that's what they're doing bringing Simms in. *snicker*

This guy makes LT seem emotionally stable. Good grief for how long is Cutler going to whine about the fact his coach doesn't think he's good enough. He's not alone. Yes the media loves him. The media also has a hard-on for Romo. Both guys melt-down too often.
Cutler's mental toughness is obviously lacking. A few bad plays (or a few news reports) and he's crying like a little girl with a skinned knee. Hey Cutler...what's that sound you hear? Oh, that's the Chargers' QB Rivers mocking you again for being a weak-minded little b!tch. Now go home and cry to mommy Shanahan!

Yeah he is not loving the fact they have Chris Simms now. It's going to be interesting to see who starts. And when you are bascially blasting the "new" coach, you better be the better of the two or you'll be warming the bench as backup.
