The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Ray Lewis will remain with the Ravens, possibly for the rest of his career. The Ravens and Lewis agreed to a multi-year deal that won't be formally set for a couple of weeks, but General Manager Ozzie Newsome said he's happy to see the 10-time Pro Bowler sticking with the purple and black.
[Newsome] wouldn't disclose the length of the deal but said "Ray Lewis can retire as a Raven."Talk in the offseason has been that Ray was interested in joining the Cowboys, but after Dallas signed veteran linebacker Keith Brooking to a three-year deal, it seemed obvious that Lewis might stay in Baltimore.
With the Ravens defense losing Bart Scott, Chris McAlister and Jim Leonhard, keeping one centerpiece around was critical if the Ravens want another season like 2008.
Ray wasn't the only move the Ravens made. With center Jason Brown signing with St. Louis, Baltimore was in desperate need of someone to fill the roll. Veteran center Matt Birk, who spent his entire career in Minnesota, inked a deal with the Ravens Wednesday.
