The Washington Redskins have released defensive end Jason Taylor, getting rid of the 12-year veteran less than a year after giving away second- and sixth-round draft picks to acquire him in a trade with the Miami Dolphins.
The Redskins had hoped to come to terms with Taylor on a restructured contract, but when they sides couldn't reach an agreement, the team decided to cut him loose. Taylor, who had a career-low 3.5 sacks in 2008, was scheduled to make an $8.5 million salary in 2009.
The Redskins said on their web site that they did not ask Taylor to take a pay cut, but that they did want to add a clause to Taylor's contract requiring him to participate in more than half of the team's voluntary off-season workouts. According to the team, it was only after Taylor refused to add that language to his deal that the Redskins let him go.

Taylor did not seem to like it on the Redskins or even being in this area. He costs too much, is getting old and it's for the best he's gone.

You can't ask Jason Taylor to participate in the offseason to help him and the team, that'll take valuable time away from him pursuing his dreams of being a Hollywood Star, the Redskins must be crazy.

This guy's an old has-been senior citizen, far from sexy. Good luck and thanks for NOTHING! He'll probably end up with those pathetic Cowgirls and gives us a good chuckle.

Would love to see Taylor end up in New England for the end of his career and stick it to the Phins. Doubt it happens though.

and the beat goes on......the Dan Snyder reality
show is a hit.......no playoff teams but lots
of stars coming and going.........duhhhhhh....
we need a blue collar owner who will build from
the ground up....look at Pittsburgh....look at'
the Giants.......Jack Kent Cooke was a self made
old coot who let Bobby Beathard and Charley Casserly build the team and Joe Gibbs coach it. A simple formula from prehistoric times. So until
Dan Snyder and Vinnie Cerrato disappear, we have
our 8-8 teams and no playoffs. $100 million for
Haynesworth is a joke.

Its unfortunate to see him go after a horrible first season i at least wantted him to redeam himself next to Hayensworth.
but ulimatley he was cut because he wasent comitted to the team all the skins wanted was a month to work out with the team and he couldnt do it so on that im glad to see him go.
And to the redskins fans that are bashing on snyder this guy is commited to winning at any cost obviously. skin fans should be lucky to have a owner to dish out his own money to try and make your favirote team the best team possible even though it may not work out all the time. He even brought Gibbs back and let him run everything and still didnt get to the big dance and hes been their before.
But obove all whenever Snyder makes a big sighning he always says we owe it to the fans to put the best product on the feild and look how u so called skins fans react to him if you dont like it then switch your favriote team.

Dude we need more posts like yours..HAILSKINS Best Regards Steve Dublin Ireland

Jason Taylor was a disaster in DC. He was absolutely worthless and he made it too obvious that he didn't want to be a Redskin. We won't miss him or his absurd salary. Thanks for nothing you dancing clown!

Remember that the only reason that the Skins got JT was that Phillip Daniels got hurt and Phillip Daniels is healthy now. Phillip is no slouch and will also benifit from Albert Haynesworth's disruptive play in the middle.I say, look for Phillip to have a banner year.
