It was a difficult weekend for the Denver Broncos. Their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, is reportedly furious the team tried to trade him on Saturday. As if that wasn't enough, word came out late Sunday night that wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested in Atlanta on a disorderly conduct charge, as reported by ESPN.com.
This is the fourth arrest for Marshall since 2006, which I believe ties him for the league lead with Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry.
Marshall, one of the NFL's best receivers, was suspended for one game in 2008 for violating the league's personal conduct policy, putting him on commissioner Roger Goodell's double-secret probation list. The suspension in 2008 was originally a three-game banishment, which was later reduced to one game.
Without knowing the details as to what transpired on Sunday -- the ESPN.com report says he was in a fight -- it's doubtful Goodell will reduce the inevitable suspension Marshall will receive prior to the 2009 season.
As PFT points out, Chris Henry was suspended for eight games during the 2007 season after his fourth arrest.
According to the ESPN report, Marshall posted $300 bond and was released.

If bail was only $300, then I doubt it was something worth fussing over. "Disorderly conduct" is something my mother could be arrested for at the grocery store. I'd be very surprised to see Brandon get suspended for one game, let alone EIGHT.

Der Kommissar does not care. Strike four. Could have been for parking tickets for all he cares.
With Cutler wanting to bounce and Marshall soon to be in limbo, things are looking up for the Donks.

The league should have a policy like other industries, of not hiring ex cons. Most industries also have the practice of terminating an employee who has a criminal conviction.
Oh! Wait a minute...the NFL wouldn't have any players left.
