Jay Cutler Thinks He's Done as a Bronco

Even though proposed trades involving Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler fell through on Saturday, Cutler still believes the team is trying to trade him and that he will play elsewhere in 2009.

Cutler told Mike Klis of the Denver Post that he enjoyed his time with the Broncos but believes the new regime in Denver -- led by head coach Josh McDaniels -- has decided to move on without him.

Says Cutler:
"My understanding at this point is they're trying to trade me," Cutler said this afternoon. "We'll see where I end up at. I liked it here, I liked playing with these guys but obviously they're not going to let me have that opportunity. ... I'm upset. I mean I'm really shocked at this point. ... I've heard I'm still on the trading block."
McDaniels, however, says Cutler's perception is incorrect:
"We don't want to trade Jay. We never did. He's our quarterback. We're excited about this season. And excited about what we're doing here in free agency to improve our team."
If McDaniels is telling the truth, he's seriously botched the early stages of his relationship with Cutler, and he needs to rectify it now. And if McDaniels is lying, that's even worse.

Meanwhile, Cutler predicts that the rest of the Broncos will be furious about this development, saying, "
There's going to be a lot of problems if they try to trade me."
