All season long Brian Dawkins said that he was hopeful that he'd work out a way to stay with the Eagles. Less than 24 hours into free agency, though, that looks like an impossibility. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Dawkins and the Broncos have agreed to terms on a contract that will be formally announced in Denver on Saturday. Dawkins fills a huge hole for the Broncos. Their defense will be stocked with new, presumably young for the most part, faces. Dawkins gives them an experienced leader who can help the team forge a new defensive identity.
Dawkins has lost a step over the past couple of years, but he's still several steps ahead of the guys that the Broncos have been trotting out there for the last few seasons. He's still strong against the run, another Denver anomaly, and no one's going to throw anything at him that he hasn't seen 50 times before.
In a division with Darren Sproles, Darren McFadden and (for now) LaDainian Tomlinson and Larry Johnson, the Broncos needed a serious upgrade to their run defense. Dawkins gives them one.
He may not be the last veteran run-stuffer coming to Denver either. There are reports linking Denver to Ray Lewis, whose presence would make Dawkins' tenure as defensive leader quite a short one. Mike Nolan, the new Broncos defensive coordinator, coached Lewis in Baltimore and is shifting the team to a 3-4 look.

Your pathetic Steelers only drew 300,000 to their Championship parade while the Phillies drew 2 million to their parade. More proof Pittsburgh is just a small boring speck of crap town thats nothing more then a gateway to Cleveland. Nobody cares about the Steelers except the few whiney fans like yourself that need constant attention. I dont blame you, your hockey team was a bunch of one year wonders last year who wont even make the playoffs this year, and the Pirates? LOL, they draw less fans then a WNBA game. What sad depressing little city Hicksburg is.

Dawkins and possibly ray lewis....talk about bringing some attitude to the D...i think the dawkins move is great, he is still an above average safety even though he's lost a step, but he makes up for it with instincts. plus this teams has really lacked a vocal leader since al wilson left

Typical Philly! Cheap as ever and allowing one of your leaders to walk away without compensation. He will certainly be missed.

The iggles organization is stupid just like their fans. They will never win a super bowl with people like Luire, Reid and McBaby. The Steelers will have number 7 before that pathetic organization gets one.

I am Joe Johnson and I did not approve this message....I'm A Cowboy's fan and as far as I am concerned the Giants, the Eagles, and the Redskins can all dissapear from the NFL. Oh yeah so can the Putsburg Steelheads too.
