The defending NFC Champions are confident in re-signing their quarterback, but there still remains a small gap in the negotiations. Mark Bartelstein, Kurt Warner's agent, is said to be asking for somewhere between $12-$16 million per year. The Cardinals originally preferred to pay Warner around $10 million a season, which was said to create a "significant gap" in the negotiating process.Monday morning, however, ESPN's John Clayton reported the Cards have upped the ante to between $10 and $12 million.
As the two sides continue to talk, the gap of what is being asked for vs. what is being offered will likely continue to close. If they can't complete a deal before Friday, Warner will become an unrestricted free agent, and that's likely to start a bidding war between teams who believe they are only a quarterback away -- the Vikings, Bucs and Jets are some who could end up in rumor mills.
We know the Cardinals don't want this, and earlier this offseason Warner said he doesn't want to play anywhere else, either. Thus, look for a deal to either be completed or get very close to completion this week.

If they offer him 12 million he better take it because it is really doubtful he will have another season like this last one, especially if they lose Boldin.

Kurt Warner is Made out of totally different stock of a man. He still has easily 3-4 years left. To bad there arent more players like this man.

I must admit, I am very surprised at this turn of events. While I will continue to admire Kurt Warner as a player AND as a man, I didn't think he would push this situation for top dollar, especially after formerly considering a two-year, $18 million offer as reasonable. Besides, as much as he says he wants to keep Boldin around, it would sure be a lot easier if those extra millions his agent is demanding were still available to offer to his receiver. It appears no one is above the lure of the almighty dollar.

Honestly do you believe Bidwell will pay both Warner and Boldin what they are asking, hell no! Regardless if Warner would take 10 Mill or 12 the Cards are going to use that position to justify being unable to pay Boldin. I've followed the Cards since I was a Young man in STL (a long time). Bidwell is like crime, he doesn't pay.
