Just before Thanksgiving, Donovan McNabb's career in Philadelphia looked to be heading to its inglorious end. After getting benched in a blowout loss to the Ravens, there was nothing left to do but play out the season, pack up his stuff and get the hell out of town. Then the Eagles won four of their final five games to sneak into the playoffs, made it to the NFC Championship before running into the Cards, and now McNabb appears to again be the team's quarterback of the future.
Via the Philly Inquirer:
[A team] source ... did not deny the Eagles plan to meet with Donovan McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith, to discuss a contract extension, and seemed confident a deal will be completed with the 32-year-old quarterback. McNabb has two years remaining on his current deal. Smith could not be reached for comment.Maybe McNabb was never really in danger of losing the gig, or perhaps the thought of Kevin Kolb taking over the job seemed too much like a rebuilding project for the Eagles. (And, frankly, frightening.)
Plus, it's not like free agency has much to offer -- between the short-term solutions (Kerry Collins, Jeff Garcia) and long shots (Chris Simms, J.P. Losman, Kyle Boller), there's not a lot to choose from. And for as infuriatingly inconsistent as McNabb can be at times, he's still one of the 10 best quarterbacks in the league.

Top 10 he is a top 3 to 4 qb, I would put Drew Brees there if he didnt suck so bad on the road. Who does more than him with as little as he has...5 of the last 8 season they have gone to the NFC championship the few seasons they didnt was because he was hurt, he has never had much help at the wr position. The one time he did(T.O.), Superbowl! They would've been in the superbowl if the #3 rated defense hadn't let arizona drop 32 points on them. Stop underrating Donovan and get him some help at receiver

Top ten if you're rating quarterbacks by how many groundhogs they kill with their passes!

as a lifelong redskins fan, i can confidently say no player has performed as well or as consistently (against my team at least)in the past decade than mcnabb. i hate the eagles and hope they dont resign him, but they would be incredibly foolish not to.

Mcnabb has always been way over rated. He blows. When he has a good game , its always against a lame team and the media blows him praise. He went to 5 nfc championships because the nfc is so pathetic....Get rid of this loser and start over

It never ceases to amaze how the most intelligent and accurate assessments of Donovan come from outside of Philly (more specifically, the NFC east...idiot Cowgirl fans notwithdstanding). Drreynaldo, you are right on the money. Over the span of 10 years, no one has been more consistent. What other team has been to 5 conference championships? (ok..the pats. not sure how many for them..probably 5.) And as Yungyung pointed out, he did it with very little help. (Westbrook not withstanding) No one's heart was more broken than mine when they lost to the Cards, but you can NOT pin that on Donovan. He was the only reason they were in that game at all. C'mon PHILLY..get behind your QB now! Show the man the love he deserves...or need I remind you of names like Bobby Hoying and Ty Detmer.

Donovan is on of the best quarderbacks in the league if we teade him we will never have a chance at a superbowl. give D.Jackson one more season to pratice and he will become on of the best widerecevers in the league and K.Curtis is an outstanding widerecver he might have some bad games but he is one of the best. We just have to step up in our offencive line and get Donovan and the widerecevers some time to make a play so Donovan doesnt have to scramble all of the time and every time their is good protection on offence an donovan gets to stay in the pocket they 95% of the time make something happen.
