Last year, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs agreed to sign the one-year franchise tender to stay in Baltimore for the 2008 season. But now Suggs has a simple request for the Ravens: If you want me around for the long haul, prove it by offering me a long-term contract.
Suggs appeared on XTRA Sports 910 in Phoenix and said this, via Sports Radio Interviews:
"That's what I want to do. I like the city. I like the team. If they don't see me in their future long term, do not draw me out when I'm 26. At least let me explore my options. If you want me on your team, then prove it, do something about it. But if not, we need to part ways and you know it's been a good run."Suggs is right on this one: He has more than proven himself in his six years with the Ravens, and at age 26, he's just entering his prime. If any player has earned a long-term deal, it's Suggs, and if the Ravens aren't offering him a long-term contract that pays him like one of the league's elite players, you can't blame him for wanting to part ways.

It'd be crazy not to give Suggs a long term deal.
