Terrell Owens Lobbies for Ray Lewis

Free agency starts in a few weeks, and here's what we know: the Cowboys may or may not cut ties with Terrell Owens, and the Ravens may or may not try to re-sign Ray Lewis.

In the meantime, T.O. has decided to lobby owner Jerry Jones on Ray-Ray's behalf. Presumably because the team, as it's currently constituted, seems to be devoid of leadership. (And, yes, the fact that Owens is spearheading this effort caused the irony meter to blow up.)

Via the Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins:
In the past, Owens told me he's been contact with Lewis, who expressed an interest in playing for the Cowboys. This off-season, Owens reached out to Jerry Jones to make a sales pitch if you will for Lewis to join Dallas.

And Deion Sanders, a close friend of Lewis and Owens, has also spoken to Jones about the linebacker.

Now, we're not sure if Lewis will sign with the Cowboys. The Ravens don't want to lose their icon, so we'll have to see how this plays out once free agency starts Feb. 27 is uncertain.
The Ravens say they're willing to pay Lewis to keep him in Baltimore, so maybe this is all moot. But given the current state of the Cowboys -- through the eyes of the players and the coaching staff -- you'd think finding somebody to take control of the team would be a priority. Hey, wait a second...
