NFL super-agent Drew Rosenhaus is currently the general manager of zero NFL teams. Amazingly, that's not stopping him from sending out e-mails to the 32 gentlemen that are general managers of NFL teams and informing them as to which of his clients are currently available via trade. Even if they aren't. According to Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger, Rosenhaus notified every team in the league that wide receivers Plaxico Burress, Anquan Boldin and Chad Johnson were all available, and apparently, the Giants aren't exactly amused by this development.
From Garafolo:
Rosenhaus did not return a call or an e-mail seeking comment. A Giants spokesman said general manager Jerry Reese had "nothing to say" on the matter. But according to one of the people familiar with the situation -- a member of one team's front office who was on Rosenhaus' list of recipients -- the Giants had plenty to say earlier this week. Giants assistant general manager Kevin Abrams notified the rest of the league that the Giants had not authorized Rosenhaus to pursue trade scenarios on Burress' behalf, and that any inquiries about Burress' availability would constitute tampering. It's not surprising that Rosenhaus had no comment on the matter, while Garafalo adds that he sent out a follow-up e-mail on Tuesday reminding everybody that, as an agent, he has no authority seek a trade for any of his clients at this point. As if they didn't already know that.
It's also worth pointing out that the Cardinals continue to insist they are not going to trade Boldin, while it's unlikely the Bengals will trade Johnson the same offseason they're likely to lose T.J. Houshmandzadeh as a free agent. Beyond that, if they didn't trade Johnson after all of the shenanigans he pulled this past offseason, there's probably nothing he could do to force his way out of Cincinnati at this point.
As for Burress? Well, with the way the Giants season went into a black hole after he shot himself in the leg, would it really be a surprise if they were planning on bringing him back at some point? Of course not.
