With, presumably, a healthy Tom Brady at quarterback, the New England Patriots will head into the 2009 NFL season as the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Bodog has released its odds for Super Bowl XLIV, and the Patriots check in as the favorites. Here are Bodog's top 10:
Odds to win the 2010 Super Bowl XLIVI'm a little surprised to see that the Cowboys are the favorites to represent the NFC, and I'm very surprised that the Cardinals, at 30-1, aren't even close. But overall, that looks about right.
New England Patriots 8/1
Dallas Cowboys 9/1
New York Giants 10/1
Pittsburgh Steelers 10/1
Indianapolis Colts 12/1
San Diego Chargers 12/1
Baltimore Ravens 14/1
Tennessee Titans 16/1
Carolina Panthers 18/1
Philadelphia Eagles 18/1
And the bottom of the list looks about right, too. The teams with the longest odds are the Lions and Chiefs, both at 100-1.

Didn't all the "so called experts" pick the Cowboys LAST yr to not only go to the Superbowl but win it all? The Cowboys couldn't make the Superbowl if they were the ONLY team in the NFC.

Seems a little early for this. Brady's knee could be messed up as he goes into the season, so who knows.
Also, the Cowboys? Hell no.

Last February they weren't favored to win this one either. One would think you'd learn to see how things play out before you do your reporting about it.

Steelers beat Baltimore in the AFC play off game on their way to winning number seven. Dallas is a no show for the playoffs. Tom Brady goes 8-8 at best, and the NFC is represented in the SB by the NY Giants. Bet the farm on it.

You need to let go of that fantasy, my friend. Belichick won't be letting go of Cassel any time soon, not while there is the least bit of uncertainty regarding Brady's knee. And even then, it would cost the Vikings well over $15 mil to get him, and at mid-season at the earliest. Super Bowl not looking too likely for your Vikings.

This story is so worthless! The "experts" picked Dallas and where did they end up? It is STUPID to predict next season right now. Most teams end up with some different players, so it is futile to even consider who is going to do better than others. Some people didn't think that the Cardinals would go as far as they did. Unless they have a direct phone line to GOD, they shouldn't even consider predictions for next season. They might be right that Pittsburgh isn't the most favored to win, but the COWBOYS? The "experts" sound like they need some professional help!

What many people don't understand about odds is that Vegas is trying to make money ... therefore they'll place the odds at a place where it will inspire the most betting action.
Considering the Cowboys have a HUGE fan base, tons of those fans will put money on the Cowboys to win the championship. Therefore, they place the odds low enough to inspire more action.
The odds are not a prediction. They are strategically placed.

How do you rank the Sixburgh Steelers number three? Next year a number of starters, namely from the offensive line will be returning. And although the Super Bowl champ usually has the toughest schedule the following year, it cannot possibly be tougher than this years schedule. Maybe the odds makers were concerned about next years Pittsburgh visit to Baltimore. Not the fact that the Ravens are headed for mass player defection, but the fact that Michael Phelps might look up Santonio Holmes!
