I have to say, Matt Millen, television analyst, is much more likable than Matt Millen, president and general manager of an NFL franchise, and infinitely more competent. Maybe that's because there are no real consequences to sitting in front of a camera and making stuff up for a couple hours a week. Not until yesterday, anyhow.
The fine folks of Detroit haven't forgotten what Millen did to the hometown team. During NBC's pregame Super Bowl coverage, the guy responsible for setting the Lions back 40 years was on set discussing Kurt Warner's many attributes. (Which is ironic since he spearheaded the "Draft Charles Rogers and Mike Williams!" campaign.) While Millen made his case, Detroit's Channel 4 ran this crawl on the bottom of the screen:
"Matt Millen was president of the Lions for the worst eight-year run in the history of the NFL. Knowing his history with the team, is there a credibility issue as he now serves as an analyst for NBC Sports? ..."As the Detroit Free Press' Steve Schrader writes, Channel 4 ran the message "Every time a certain familiar face showed up on camera Sunday during NBC's Super Bowl pregame show." Nah, nobody's bitter about Millen's reign of terror. Oh, and I'm pretty sure he's responsible for this, too.

I'm glad they did that. I can't believe NBC could have such a failure appear on their program.
I wish EVERYONE could have seen that when he talked.

I am a Seahawks fan but whenever I saw Matt Millen on the set I switched the channel or turned to something else in respect for the Lions' fans. Matt Millen reminds me of Wally Walker, the dumbest executive in NBA history and the prime reason wht the Sonics left Seattle and the reason why no one cared when the Sonics left Seattle. If you noticed Mike Holmgren was on the NBC/NFL "analysis" show too. I have issues with the way he left. It is silly to announce a lame duck year before the beginning of the NFL season, but he did. Dumb, really dumb.

well remeber that the fords gave him tge keys to the franchise because he was a good color man on cbs. I agree however that Millen has no place on tv as an analyst at this point. I mean he built the team that went 0-16 for god's sake

there is no doubt millen was a total failure during his tenure with the lions. His credentials as an anylist for the superbowl however, should not be brought to question .Millen played on 4 superbowl winning teams and knows more about playing in the big game than most, if not all the other anylysts that covered the superbowl.LET IT DIE DETROIT,yesterday is gone all you have is tomorrow !

Millen played on 4 superbowl winning teams .Pretty sure that his qualifications for covering the big game are better than average .If your looking to blame someone for detroits failures, ownership is as much to blame as millen himself.Maybe next year tony cornheiser will take over and make all you fools happy. GET IT?

If people weren't happy with Millen, why in heaven's name would they want Kornheiser? Sounds like jyankeehater1 is angling for a spot on Around the Horn

Matt Millen has 4 Super Bowl rings, and knows about winning, but he was'nt the problem. The Fords are the problem with the Lions.Barry Sanders said it and so have countless other players and ex-coaches.They use the Lions as a writeoff, and as long as they own that team they'll be just that.Get over it Detroit and move on already.

Everyone and every team has to be good at something. The Lions, like Jimmy Carter, happen to be the best at being the worst.
