King told "PTI" that Jets doctors suggested Favre have surgery on his torn right biceps tendon if he wants to play next season, and Favre has declined to have the surgery. "That to me in part ... was Brett basically saying, 'No mas,'" King said. This is certainly good news for Ryan, who can get to work on finding the Jets' next franchise quarterback, even if that means Kellen Clemens, the team's 2006 second-round pick, has to serve as a stopgap next season. (And who knows, maybe he'll emerge as that guy.)
But King added that he had "a gut feeling" Favre would seriously consider a return if he could somehow play for the Minnesota Vikings. "If he's not going to be able to play where he really wants to play, I think he's not going to play," the Favre mouthpiece told "PTI."
Owner Woody Johnson, on the other hand, hasn't minced words on the subject: he's been pro-Favre from the start. So much so that he'd like the 39-year-old quarterback to participate in the Jets' offseason program. There's a better chance Vernon Gholston breaks the NFL single-season sack record next year. That's why King writes: "You're kidding yourself if you think he's going to move back to New Jersey for 12 to 16 weeks in March. 'I've never been in a [full] offseason program,' Favre told me a month ago..."
And so ends Favre's glorious NFL career (which may or may not already be tarnished). Until he re-un-retires later this spring, anyway. Hey, it'll give us something to talk about.

Puhleeze. What a chump Peter King is if he believes that. Everybody knows this drama queen is going to want to play next year.

Nice to see the rest of the country involved in the yearly Favre fiasco. Here in Packer country, it's not our worry anymore.
Granted, I loved Brett as the Packer QB, but all this thinking he is bigger than the teams he plays for is ridiculous. The Packers moved on, wil Brett ever?
