The best humor is truthful and writes itself. So, in the latest Dallas Cowboys circus news, Michael Irvin will be hosting a reality TV show this offseason that picks the last spot in Cowboys training camp. The producers behind the show "The Biggest Loser" are developing it.
No details have been released on what they will make contestants do. I was going to speculate as to whether a criminal record was required, but things have been so embarrassing for Dallas fans of late, I feel like that is piling on.
I guess Jerry Jones figured that last year's HBO show, "Hard Knocks" -- which followed the team during training camp -- wasn't distracting enough. No, they need to turn their camp into a bigger joke. Given that this is *reality* programming, they will be getting Heartbreaking Story Guy, and Flashy Personality Guy, and Bad Attitude Guy, etc. all competing for that final spot. Making It Rain Guy likely won't make the cut, however.
This must be reason number 5,345,598 why Bill Parcells had to get away from the Cowboys. A winning team needs a coach with clear authority and disciplined players with leadership skills. Dallas has neither. Nobody respects the coaches, and try naming any leader on this Cowboys team. This team is swimming in chaos and ridiculousness and will continue to be as long Jerry Jones continues to put marketing and his ego above putting a quality product on the field.
In the history of the league, plenty of good players have come from the bottom of training camp rosters. It's hard to imagine that the reality show process is the best way to take up one of those 80 spots.
Back in the day, whether you loved or hated the Cowboys, you respected their accomplishments. Lately, the Cowboy news has devolved into a daily "Kick Me" sign for their fanbase. But I guess in Jerrah's world, any news is good news.
All that being said, I am totally rooting for FanHouse's Matt Snyder to make the team.

Only if he wins. I really hope the contestants are Maurice Clarett, Pacman, Vick and Plaxico. I can't wait to see the temptation challenges.

I posed the question after Dallas' humiliation @ the hands of the Eagles: "What will Jerry do to steal the spotlight from the Super Bowl?" I knew he wouldn't lay low. Frankly, I was expecting something a bit more dramatic than this, like cutting T.O, Crayton, Ellis, Johnson and hiring a real coach. Guess he's going to do that during half time.
Jerry probably watched "Invincible" and called The Playmaker with his "idea." I can hear it now: "Mike...I just saw this movie...let's get some publicity and find the next Vince Papelli."
If Papelli version 2.0 were to make it to Cowboys training camp, Jerry wouldn't recognize him. He'll somehow sign some poor schmuck and somehow make this once promising team even worse.
Head Coach who can't coach + "Star QB" who doesn't have drive to win Superbowl + a bunch of jailbirds= Jerry Jones' genius.
Heck, I'd let go of everyone not named Barber, Witten or Ware and start from scratch. At least you'd have a solid nucleus of no nonsense tough guys. What am I thinking, we're talking Jerry here.
How bout them Cowboys?

I don't know how people can call them 'Americas Team' anymore. I was a fan of theirs, but events during the last few years have changed that. This should come as no surprise if you've been following the Cowboys as of late. Shouldn't the Cowboys stick to playing football on the field, and not all of these ridiculous media-crazed occurrences? Jerry Jones has really let the Cowboy fans down. He should just continue to clean out all of the troubled players and stop trying to get his name in the paper at any cost.

Hey, I hate Jerry Jones as much as most everyone does, but I think it is a good idea. In fact I think the NFL should add one player to every team's roster and mandate that it be filled the same way. It would be more fun than watching reruns of the combine for the next few months.

See this what I'm talking bout Owner Jerry is at it again with this deviant obsession to one up the marketing machine that is NFL MARKETING. Many a venture this guy has tried and failed.
Without the platform of the Dallas Cowboys as a launching pad for these outlandish flights of fancy, sponsors wouldn't take these proposals serious. Detach the name Dallas Cowboys from any of this guy's endeavors they would be worthy of discussion.

My, my, it does seem as if Miss Stephanie is on board with her "cohorts" who submit articles on AOL------ hehehe
Anything regarding the Cowboys, (and I do mean anything) is a media frenzy as all the media knows that there will be readership ;) As reported on AOL, the Cowboys must still be America's Team since 4 of the 10 top selling jerseys belong to Romo, Witten, TO, and Barber ;)
There are 32 teams in the NFL, you know.
Irving and JJ are friends, and quite frankly, this would be one reality show I would watch. How many young men would give their "eye-teeth" to play for the 'Boys?? If they are not drafted by the Cowboys, they always play for revenge when their team plays the 'Boys, and many make that quite clear. So, I think this will be a fun show to watch!
Please do try and write an article stating the facts, without the cynicism and attempted bogus humor thrown in it.
I can see why Smith has won awards, as it appears as I read his articles, he is heads above the rest of his colleagues. By the way, all of the shootings and gun-related incidents on the Giants, would seem to me to be far more interesting than whether TO sneezes or not! ;)
Have a great day from an avid Cowboys fan (through the good and the bad)

I agree with Brenda. The NFL problem is THE New York GIANTS.PLEASE CHECK THE COWBOY RECORD UNDER JERRY JONES, 3 SUPERBOWELS WINS AND ATLEASE 3 NFC CHAMPIONSHIPS. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO THE COACH IS !!, IT'S THE PLAYERS THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE. HOW MANY SUPER BOWELS WINS DOES PARCELL HAVE?
