Speaking publicly for the first time since his season-ending knee injury way back in Week 1, New England quarterback Tom Brady appeared on Toronto's Fan 590 with Bob McCown Wednesday evening. Why he was appearing on a Toronto radio station is a mystery -- and kind of bizarre -- but, whatever, it's Tom Brady and when he talks, people are going to listen. After answering a few questions about his political interests and relief work in Africa with Bono in 2007, Brady was asked what it was like to be a spectator for the entire season. His response: "Sh*t happens, so to speak. The reality is it happens ... I'm in a new part of my career, and a different process that I'm excited about. Rehabilitation has different challenges. The tough part is you're not experiencing stuff you love to do. Once you get over that, you focus on whatever you have to focus on."
Somewhere around the middle of the interview the conservation drifted towards Myo-Med Pain Relief cream -- endorsed by Brady! -- which no doubt left listeners feeling like Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" shortly after he received his Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring. A crummy commercial? Son of a ...
As for his rehab: "It's going really well ... things come up and you just have to focus your energy and attention on all the positive things ... I'm excited about the process and the so many wonderful people that have helped me. I think I'm the most well-taken care of knee patient in history."
Finally, they addressed the yearly exodus of New England assistant coaches -- including offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels this offseason -- and how it effects the team.
"As long as we have Robert and Jonathan Kraft and as long as we have coach (Bill) Belichick I always think that we're going to be just fine."

Players from the '07 Dolphins, including Holliday, will never forget the torment and shame of being the worst team in franchise history. For most of the holdovers from that team, it has only made Miami's remarkable turnaround this season more gratifying. The Dolphins (11-5) have matched the 1999 Indianapolis Colts for the greatest one-year improvement in history, capturing the AFC East title and getting a home playoff game Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 against the Baltimore Ravens. He wasn't a spectator. I never saw him on the sideline for one game.
