The news "broke" (it had inexplicably been overlooked and unmentioned by the police leading up to the game) recently that Donovan McNabb's offseason home in Arizona was vandalized by some less-than-intelligent perps. Criminals so wise, in fact, that they left return-addressed evidence at the scene of the crime. The natural course of criminological events would be, of course, that several teenagers got arrested for the crimes, subsequently stuck with long-lasting juvenile records and by the time both those things happened, the whole thing would have blown out of our collective mind.
Or, alternately, they could be just two older, dumb drunks. (They had to be drunk, right?) Whatever, they're still busted.
Favazzo said officers found an address label on the box that had been left, and it led to Chandler resident Rex Perkins, 37, who later admitted to the pranks. So, really, what's the bigger crime? That these two guys decided to use diesel gasoline to burn slogans for their football team into an opposing player's lawn in the middle of the night? Or the fact that all they got charged with was misdemeanor criminal damage?
His co-worker, Ryan Hanlon, 28, also admitted to the pranks.
Perkins and Hanlon were fingerprinted, photographed and cited for misdemeanor criminal damage.
I'm sure that most folks will opt for the former. That's fine, but a misdemeanor? For setting a lawn on fire while people were sleeping? Really? Really. The only way anyone should be remotely fine with this is if both guys land with Sheriff Joe Arpaio for a year and a half.

Those two dumb and dumber should get about a year in jail for the simple fact that it was not teenagers playing a prank but grown men being stupid. Big "S" on thier chest and not for Supermen.

Talk about trying to stir up something that isn't there! Let me guess, we're supposed to picture burning crosses in our minds, so you can crank up a lot of racial tension on an otherwise slow news day? Do you know what a "grass fire" on a mowed lawn would look like? Poof, it's over. They were just too lazy to use shovels. And were these racist taunts they left? No, just some opposing team gibberish. Yes, McNabb is black, and I'll bet the screwballs were white, right? And in this, the year America elects a black president, no less...wow. Don't worry, though, because I'll bet you'll get your little black-on-white blogger war anyway. There's a reason this didn't get a lot of early attention, because the majority of the press sees this for exactly what it is--two morons tearing up a celebrity's lawn, and yes, it IS a misdemeanor-level crime. Talk about sensationalistic journalism!

Ever had someone steal off your property, or from your home-and not sure who it may be? Whether you are man or woman, you feel personally violated, a little or a lot frightened. Though somethings seem like senseless pranks, you never know what long term effects this has on anyone-Whether you are a grown man or woman, or a child. Whether someone was wondering about burning crosses, which could have been possiblity, since there are numerous stories of people waking up, looking out and seeing things burning on their lawns, and later find out they were crosses, is not the whole story, is the fact that we live in a world where people get so wrapped up in the lives of stars, teams, players-that you don't know who is simply pranking, and who means you serious ill will. Me, personally, I would be livid, YES LIVID, and would want someone's head if someone violated my home, my property, the psyche of my family's mind, by coming that close to my home, my life, with gas and other stuff, and setting that stuff on fire. You want to holler some crap from the stands, or blog some nonsense from the internet, okay, but stay the H$LL away from my home. I also wouldn't think it is a "prank" to put a noose on a locker, in a tree, or on the back of a truck. What's a "prank" to you is a threat to me!

Seriously, how is this worth causing a fuss over? A couple of guys burnt some words into someone's lawn. That's a misdemeanour. I mean, lawns grow back. It's just graffiti, but with more fire.
You're blowing this out of proportion.

lol...blowing it out of proportion? grant it i'm an eagles fan but 1st im a parent,i can just imagine what his kids and family were thinking ,(and yes his family was home)i believe there was a 7r old in the house plus the twins(twins are newborn, doubt they were affected).imagine if your kids were looking out the window at your front lawn on fire,do you think it would affect them? i dont think the burning of lawn had anything to do with his race, but should be warranted as more than a misdemeanor....maybe make the guys fertilzize, and cut his lawn for the next five yrs, expense on themselves and 30 days in jail. not sure what kind of conditions were in the town where donovans house is,but what if it would have spread and burned down the whole block, isnt it dry in arizona? what rednecks?!? oops sorry, thats an insult to rednecks.

His celebrity status is irrelevant. He is just another resident, and his lawn is no more special than his neighbors.
It was a misdemeanor

If you looked out your window and saw 2 men, trespassing on your property, carrying a can of gasoline, would you feel you were about to be the victim of a prank, or a serious crime? In some states you'd be allowed to shoot them. I'm not sure what the proper penalty should be, but a slap on the wrist is not enough

The author of this story has no idea about what happened......"burning" with diesel ful does not involve a flame or fire...his last paragraph tries to make it sound as if there was a fire on the lawn while peoople were sleeping...not the case. When you "burn" grass with diesel fuel, all you do is spray it on the ground....the grass eventually dies without a flame leaving a yellow mark.

Thank you, jimmyhull. I think a lot of people out there think we're trying to downplay the criminal side of this, and we're not. These morons deserve to be punished--they were stupid and thoughtless in their actions. The problem is that most don't seem to understand the nature of grass or diesel fuel. This was no prairie grass fire--talk to someone from the country who has burned brush before--the grass right next to the fire looks untouched. How do you think they knew what was written? Because it stayed exactly where the fuel was poured, otherwise you wouldn't have recognized anything. The only people in danger from this were the idiots setting the fires. Was it wrong? Absolutely! But it's still just senseless vandalism, not attempted arson or murder.

THANK YOU, Bob & Jimmyhull!! You absolutely nailed it by providing more facts than anyone else , ESPECIALLY Will Brinson who wrote this inflammatory piece of crap! Check out azcetral.com for the actual recounting of what happened, rather than this ongoing self-serving drivel. Yeah, not too smart about what these 2 "fans" did, but ceratinly not as bad as Brinson has been touting. And you call yourself a journalist? So did William Randolph Hearst...I believe it's called "yellow journalism" in order to get readers, at ANY cost. Stop with the hate-mongering, already!!

they could have done the same thing with morton's salt. anyway, all they did was kill a lawn, no racial remarks. at least they didn't go out like some fans do (detroit) and destroy the city and loot when their team wins
