The Kansas City Chiefs have hired New England Patriots Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli as their next general manager, likely signaling the end of Herm Edwards' tenure as the Chiefs' head coach.Adam Schefter of NFL Network first reported the Pioli news, and although there's no hard news about Edwards, it stands to reason that Pioli would want to bring in his own head coach. In Edwards' three years as head coach, the Chiefs have gone 9-7, 4-12 and 2-14.
For the Chiefs, hiring Pioli makes a lot of sense: He's highly regarded as one of the best personnel evaluators in football, and he's played an integral role in assembling the Patriots dynasty.
For the Patriots, it's the second time this week that head coach and general manager Bill Belichick has lost one of his top lieutenants, coming just two days after offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels left to become the head coach of the Denver Broncos.
UPDATE: Michael Smith reported on ESPN that Edwards had already come to terms with the fact that he was going to be fired whenever the Chiefs found a new general manager, and that Pioli will clean house with the coaching staff.

Pioli is jumping the spygate ship. Smart move.. Notice that Bill and none of his coaching protege's around the league made the playoffs the first year defensive players had headset communications to the sidelines.. ie. first year they didnt have tapes of the opposing teams defensive signals.
Crennel, Mangini, Belichick no post season..Not a coincidence.

My team didnt achieve 11-5 but they are still playing. AND are in the playoffs without cheating. BB should return the Super Bowl trophies (see Wikipedia under "spygate").
Its not a coincidence that Belicheat and his lineage of coaches, Mangini, Crennel, Weis (albeit ND) etc, have performed poorly since the league provided defensive players headset communications to the sidelines. As you might remember from last March's NFL meetings, THIS WAS INNOVATED BECAUSE OF BB and SPYGATE!! In this first year BB didnt have tapes of the opposing teams defensive signals, no post season and 5 more losses.....Not a coincidence.
Without Ernie Adams (spygate videographer boss) BB will show he is really the coach that went 36-44 at Cleveland.

You are sooo jealous of the patriots and their success that you can't let go of the past. You need a life and you need to grow up.

man i envy the patriots and have for years. Yes the whole spygate thing was bad but i don't think that it would have stopped them from winning the superbowl three times. I am a die hard chiefs fan and this is a very exciting time for any chiefs fan now that hopefully we can start winning again instead of losing with a head coach that is the worst in the game. i like herm edwards as a person but he isn't fit for head coaching....he's better off as a defensive coordinator

Right, Jack
Belicheat told Goodell that he had been doing it (breaking NFL rules on signal taping) since 2000. Ummm about the time his coaching record improved over the Cleveland days..
Fraud...and Pats SB wins are a Fraud, too.

JTZ - You are a moron! Research your facts, the ONLY game any evidience ever came forward regarding NE "cheating" was 1st 1QTR, 1st Game against the Jets after which the camerman was kicked out and NE continued to kick everyones butt. Yes, they broke a rule and should have been penalized for it but for all you conspiracy theory idiots - get off the crack!
