The New York Giants' season is over, and when they look back on this year, Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg will stand alone as the moment that transformed them from defending champs and No. 1 team in the league to just another postseason also ran.
But that doesn't mean the Giants are done with Burress. In fact, Giants general manager Jerry Reese said it's "absolutely" possible that Burress could be a Giant in 2009, and he told the New York Daily News that he thinks Burress is a huge part of the offense.
"Obviously it's hard to replace that," the GM said. "The guy has a presence out there and when you lose that, teams play you differently. Your margin of error is way less when you don't have a guy with that kind of presence out there. Your margin for errors goes way down so you have to capitalize on every opportunity you have."The problem, of course, is that Burress is facing felony gun charges, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has personally gotten involved in the case and made clear that he wants Burress to spend time in prison. That means there's a very good chance that Burress won't be playing anywhere in 2009. But if Burress does play, it sounds like it's going to be with the Giants.

I'm Sorry to say but, I think the Giants Have a great team. The loss of PLAXICO BURRESS was AWESOME!!! But, as far as saying TOM COUGHLIN, ELI MANNING, and PLAXICO BURRESS should be fired is a little drastic. I have seen ELI put the ball where need be many of times and the recievers have butter fingers and that be the deciding factor of the game. Sounds to me like Eli and Tom are Innocent. Oh yeah by the way I hate the GIANTS with a passion. But I have to be honest they are good. I am a hardcore Bucs fan so If any team should fire The Head Coach, Starting QB, and WR. It should be the BUCS. Getting rid of JON GRUDEN, JEFF GARCIA, and JOEY GALLOWAY. JON sucks, JEFF sucks, and JOEY is just getting too old to be fighting with injuries whic caused him to sit out most of the season and when he did play he was just too rusty. Oh screw it fire BRUCE ALLEN while you are at it. Now that is a subject worth talking about. NOT THE GIANTS.

Football is WAR. You want heroes, go look at Doctors, Teacher, and Firemen, etc..... . If you are going to war you take all your best troops. You BABIES should start by raising your own kids and being positive role models for them.

As a Giants fan, I am also open to the return of Phil Simms. He couldn't look any worse than Eli.

Plax shot himself and the team bled out. The arrogance of NY (really New Joisey fans, since that former swamp is where the team plays) needed this flat, poor playing experience to remind themselves that NYC is not the capital of the world and there are good teams in the other 49 states.
Eli looked weak and Coughlin looked pretty dumb challenging that 4th down and short spot and gave away a valuable timeout.
My football life is good with the Manning brothers home making commercials instead of playing in the post season.

As a life long g-men fan, over 45 years, this team played with heart, i was not a fan of eli in the beginning, but he led us to a super bowl in his fourth year. But as martin needed lewis, cher needed sonny, eli needed plax, together they were
unbeatable, ask philly who signed asante samuel
just to try and guard plax.

What if Plax gets off? Then there is no legal (read no criminal record) reason not to take him back. The Giants are waiting for the legal process to run its course. Just what if he's exonerated? Jerry Reese is a wise man to allow this to all play out.
