Notes from the press box at Bank of America Stadium for Panthers - Cardinals.
It's pretty rare when a sports montage doesn't result in some sort of superhuman level of energy and performance boosting. (See: Darch, Stan.) But there's somehow already a montage relating to Jake Delhomme's performance against the Cardinals on Saturday night. And it's awkwardly set to Beck's "Loser."
I suppose "thanks" goes to Black Sports Online for putting this together, although I reckon Jake might have a different reaction. Like, say, "Soy un perdador"?

Is this really worth doing? Yes, Jake Delhomme had the worst game of his career at the worst possible time, and I have always thought he held the Panthers back... but this is just ridiculous. You know you're a poor reporter when the best you can do is bring up the same player multiple times in a row. It is also very sad that the Cardinals are again going to be doubted because instead of giving credit to their defense (which has stopped two strong offensive teams this post season) people will mention Delhomme's self destruction.
The real Carolina issue? The play calling, moving away from your strongest aspect (the run game) before the end of the first half. This team played all year by getting big plays from their running game, and when they needed big plays the most they take it completely out of two of their three most talented players hands. Nice move coaches.

Jake it may be time for you to replace Brett Farve at the New York Jets. With that performance on your birthday - even Detroit wouldn't want you at quarterback. Jake the snake is really the name you should go by now.
Maybe Kurt now gets another superbowl with his winning Cardinals - they looked like a Division Winner - next week they may be the Conference winner in Arizona.

So, even though the Panthers' were undefeated at home prior to the Cardinals' "showing up" yesterday, the loss was all about Delhomme, or poor coaching, or whatever finger-pointing and blame can be placed on the Panthers'?
To be expected, the general population of football fans, as well as the media, are not giving the Cards the credit they deserve.... BUT, it's O.K. ~ keep it up, because that attitude has spurred them on to where they are, and it will continue to work to their benefit as they pursue their ultimate goal....
"To be continued...." next Sunday, hopefully here in Glendale, AZ, at the University of Phoenix Stadium!

Someone suggested that Delhomme may have taken a dive. Judging by what I've just seen, I may have to concur.

So why are we talking about how bad Delhomme is and not how great the Arizona defense was? Hmmm? I think you're taking something away from somebody here.

to be direct, an inept offense will certainly make a medocre defense look great. Jake failed at the basics: no look-offs on his primary receivers, audibles missing when it was obvious what the defense was doing, run check offs and the total abandonment of the run offense......where were his secondary receivers? He threw into double coverage repeatedly!

all I have to say is "Brutal..."
Jake, if you watch this, keep your head up. You're still an NFL QB, atleast you're not in Bret Favre's situation.

Jake sucks! Im a Panthers fan, but come on enough is enough!! Any player in any other sport would have been benched. Our backups arent that great but come on something has to change here at Carolina! I believe first at QB, and a coaching change might need to happen. Jake would make a super backup but definetly not a starter!!! Everyone thinks hes so great,he only had one good season!!! As far as coaching goes John Fox I know is a players coach, but he does have other QBs .....and who builds their team around the run, then has a 1st and 5 and passes it??? Stupid plays and stunts like that makes you wonder. And defense, our secondary is so weak a high school team could pass in to it and be safe.I sat through the 1-15 yr it was horrible, but this feels worse than that year!!! All I can say is dump Jake Delhomme and lets try it again next year!!!

That was an absolute embarrassment. How bad can they possibly play after a week off? Well I guess we now know the answer to that question. Why at half time did we not put Jake on the bench and put in Moore. Maybe some people should be thinking about resigning.

I tried posting this earlier but it wouldn't let me. Whoever chose to abandon the run is an idiot. The Panthers had no balance and the Cards were only rushing 4 it's not like Delhomme was running for his life. The coaches called bad plays and Delhomme executed those bad plays and executed the Panthers chances of playing at a competitive level. I like Jake but, I commented on the story when Keyshawn said "he didn't trust Jake" you really can't he makes bad decisions. For the lack of a better word it "sucks" but we'll have to wait until next year. Go Panthers!

Anyone think Delhomme will be back next year? He folds every time he is put under pressure he folds! He is an average quarterback that got lucky enough to start. And what was up with our defense this year? We could not cover the flats. A five yard reception was stopped MOST of the time in the flats but due to missed tackles it was turned into more yards after the catch. Its not always about stripping the ball lets go back to "form" tackling. Maybe we should bring in Jon Gruden from the Bucs as a defensive coordinator. My main argument is still with our quarterback situation. It is time to stray from Delhomme even if Fox wants to stick behind him. You CANNOT have six single turnovers in one game and expect to play as a professional player. So many fans were off of the Delhomme wagon last year and after this year if he is back some fans will not return to the stands and we do not have a strong fan base as it is, our fans fall when our team does and we do not stick by the team the way we need to. Even if one player fails to do his job you should not drag down the other players keep cheering them on maybe it will rally the individual with six turnovers! I will be in the stands no matter what next year...hopefully other die-hard fans will be too!
