Notes from the press box at Bank of America Stadium for Panthers - Cardinals.Jake Delhomme's job tonight was two-fold: don't turn the ball over and occasionally hit Steve Smith on deep play-action passes. So far tonight, he hasn't really done either quite well. In fact, aside from the one deep throw (that he didn't complete), it's pretty safe to say he looks more like David Carr.
Granted, Delhomme did get a ball deep to Smith at the end of the first quarter that drew 14 penalty flags in .01 seconds, so I suppose he deserves some credit there. But the fact of the matter is that the Cardinals have 14 points and are driving, and the last 10 points are nothing but gifts from Delhomme and unnecessary wastes of red zone opportunities.
Meanwhile, Kurt Warner is 8-of-9 for 100 yards and a touch and, even though there's some intermittent rain falling here, you wouldn't know that it had the chance of affecting the Cards, who shook off an early punch in the mouth courtesy of the Panthers to storm back and take the lead.
Bonus Buzzsaw stat nerdiness: Neil Rackers' 49-yarder was the longest in Cardinals postseason history. You can write your own jokes.

man the whole team looks like trash right now. the panthers do not look like a team looking to get a win for the ailing Jerry Richardson
If the Giants win the game tomorrow its clear sailing to the Super Bowl
I'm pretty sure the Panthers will be looking for QBs this offseason. Outside of that position they will be Super Bowl favorites
Panthers choke again with Jake coughing the ball up many times
Ooops! Major verbal face-plant in that "Obviously the Cardinals didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night" post, there, Will. I have the feeling that wherever the Cards DID spend the night, it's going to become an extraordinarily popular place for NFL teams on the road. As Butch said to Sundance, "Who ARE those guys?"
Epic choke going on now.
This year's Cardinals, last year's Giants?
why did they even come out with this game plan? only once this season could you really credit Delhomme with the win. That was the week 1 win against San Diego where he got a last second TD to Rosario. I saw NO commitment to the run after the first drive, and we've paid dearly.
GMen, we have an able young QB in Matt Moore, we will not be looking for a brand new guy next year. But Jake has been off all season and he looks worse now than Pennington did last week against a much better defense.
Thanks for giving us a game we want to forget to cap what once looked like a season to remember
It is about time the Carolina Panthers get with the program and get a mobile quarterback and a defensive coordinator that want to win.Delhomme is not consistent and never was. He do his worst in clutch games. Can anybody else see this. The defense is packed with talent, but the coordination of that talent is misplaced. He needs to go or improve. The coach have called some bad play in bad areas on the field. I don't think he trust his quarterback either. He gotta go, the QB, that is.
