Notes from the press box at Bank of America Stadium for Panthers - Cardinals.Anquan Boldin is one of the biggest concerns of the Arizona Cardinals for their playoff matchup against the Carolina Panthers tonight; he did, after all, finish with 1,110 yards on the season (the 11th-highest total in the NFL). But he's dealing with a hamstring injury suffered last week, and there's a pretty good chance he won't play tonight.
However, he spent the past 15 or so minutes on the field, testing his hamstring (amid a growing crowd of reporters and Cardinals' trainers) with light jogging from the 50- to 35-yard line, some "high knee" exercises and various stretches.
A few seconds ago, he decided to increase the speed of his runs and, um, well, things don't look all that fantastic. Boldin's first sprint (increased speed from the 35 into the end zone) resulted in a somewhat hobbled looking effort as he hit the plane. On his second and third runs, he quickly slowed his pace after about 10 yards of medium speed movement.
It might still be too early to say he's not going to play, but the nature of his runs and the unenthusiastic looking responses from the trainers make it appear as if Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston will be catching most of the balls tonight.
