The Dallas Cowboys cut ties with Pacman Jones yesterday, but they may not be done cutting. And the next man out could be Terrell Owens.
Jean Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News writes that the Cowboys have some big decisions ahead of them, "Like whether to release Terrell Owens because there's not a player or coach on this team with a strong enough personality to bring out the best in him, while limiting his charismatic influence in the locker room." Ed Werder of ESPN also reported that Owens' job is in jeopardy.
We should be clear that Owens is in no way, shape or form similar to Pacman. Owens is both a much better player on the field than Pacman and a much better person off the field than Pacman. These are not similar situations.
But it is a fact that Owens is 35 years old and is reportedly due a $3.1 million roster bonus in June. Do the Cowboys really want to give that kind of money to an old player with a history of being a malcontent? I'm not sure. I think there's a real chance the Cowboys will send Owens packing before the 2009 season.

Owens occasionally catches some passes but the rest of his arrogance and attitude is not worth it to the team. Philly took the cowboys apart almost twice this tyear because of Owens Me rather than the team concept Good Bye and Good luck TO

I would cut Tony Romo before I cut Terell Owens.. Talk about a choke artist!!!! T.O. didn't lose the last playoff game!!!
T.O. didn't throw the game winning interception against pittsburgh this season...get the trend? Parcells warned you of "fool's gold" and "the player" One shouldn't go without the other. I don't think Mike Shanahan could save this Motley Crew cut your loses while you have a chance Jerry!!!

Cowboys, still aren't as bad as ur spelling! Ha Haa
Why don't you try coaching them, if you know which endzone is which? TO is unhurt and in excellent football
condition. Maybe cause they don't throw him the ball enough! Remember........opinions and bellybuttons; everybody has one!

Dallas would want Michael Vick to put people in the seats? Be serious! They have Tony Romo, who has put up better numbers than Michael (WAY OVER-RATED) Vick has ever dreamed of. And this is coming from a fan of THE WORLD CHAMPION NY GIANTS.
Your post was a bit funny b/c you're attacking the Cowboys, but the assertations made are ludicrous.

Re: Vick - I'll take that bet, since he's still most likely going to be suspended for the 2009 season even though he'll be out of the slammer.
As for TO, he's proven to be uncoachable. He is the NFL's version of Manny Ramirez. Amazingly talented, but also an amazing headache. I'm not a Cowboys fan but I don't hate them either, I couldn't care less what they do. But IMHO, the Cowboys would deifnitely be better off without him.

Go ahead... cut him... then whos gonna catch passes on this team? Roy Williams? PLEASE!!! Williams cant even run the right pass routes! Am I the only person in America defending TO? Who knows what the real story was with the TO / Witten / Romo saga but from where I'm sitting, TO has been a model citizen in Dallas, not a malcontent.
"..there's not a player or coach on this team with a strong enough personality to bring out the best in him.." Oh, by the way, match his numbers up against ANY former Cowboy great receiver... Michael Irvin is the only one who even comes close. What "best in him" could you POSSIBLY be talking about???
Go ahead...cut him...keep Phillips...keep Garrett...let Romo keep turning the ball over like its going out of style...that should fix EVERYTHING...

P, I am right there with you !!!!! You are not the only one in America who is defending TO.
TO can "spit" and the media is all over it with something taken totally out of context. I find it refreshing that he tells it like it is, like it or not!!!! He does not get in trouble off the field and he has an awesome work & practice ethic. He will have to do more than he has, before I through him under the bus!!
Have a great New Year,
Brenda (for the Boys through good and bad!!!!)

I would give Romo one more year. If he can't produce then we need to look another way. I do feel for Adam Jones. Jerry should have gave him another year. He will get hs act together and come back to hurt us. I have been a fan since 1960. The winless 60 team played with more hurt and pride. I was so embrass of this team I almost dismantled my cowboy room. I am glad I am not workng so I didn't have to put up with the harrassment from the cowboy haters. I wll be a cowboy fan until the day I die. Please get some help on defense.

I agree Dallas doesnt have a home run catcher without TO. And what was TO's complaint ? The offensive coodinator was getting him involve enough so the team could win games unpopular at the time but has proven to be correct since then. Even Tony Rome had problems with the play calling. Also Jason didn't call the plays last year that's the biggest differents between this season and last season. Also TO was the number one receiver in football last season.compare the CB records. Oh yea, Eagle fan look at your QB stats since TO left.He had the best stat in his career when he had TO to throw to. In addition phil never wants to pay their stars what they are worth that was TO beef. Look what westbrook went thru before he got his new contact and why did the best Defensive player in History Reggie White leave? I rest my case unless you have more to say. Ps I am a die hard 40 yr CB fan but I was born and raise in the Phil area I know the eagle history very well. Next.

i was born a Cowboys fan lol. 21 years old now and have bled blue and white for every minute of it. and i have to say, it's not T.O. everyone is so quick to place the blame on the guy, but anyone who actually watched the games can tell you that he is NOT the problem in this case. the problem is an offense that had been figured out since the end of last season. teams learned how to cover us and we never adjusted. T.O. usually has at least double coverage with help over the top as well. you would think that would open up the rest of the receivers but this hasn't been the case for whatever reason. our depth at WR is questionable at best. we have a couple decent guys (Crayton, R. Williams, and sometimes Austin) but nothing super special beyond T.O.
I think Romo gets confused back there by the schemes they throw at him. that and his predisposition as a gunslinger lead him to ALOT of turnovers. you can't win football games like that. i can into the season thinking we only needed to bolster our defense, but now offense needs some work again. i was quite pleased with our defense though with Phillips calling the plays (minus the last game of course) but personnel help all around couldnt hurt.
i hate to say it, but after looking so promising, we may be in a rebuilding stage already. we need some back up QB's, more CB's, some OL's, DE's, WR's. we are really hurt, but again, T.O. is not the one that needs to be placed.

U r exactly right, these idiots don't see the obvious problems in Dallas. First, "moron" Jones needs to sit his a** down and let a real coach, such as Bill Cowher, run the team. Secondly, Moron needs to hire a GM to run the draft and scouting parts of the team. Next, Moron needs to stay in the Sky Box and CHILL. (No coming down on the field!!!!!!) Fire Jason Garrett, because he can't adjust to the defenses! Wade needs to call the defenses, because he is better at it! Finally, he could hire me and everything would be gravy!!!!!!

DO IT!! But dont cut him, CHOP HIM UP AND PUT HIM IN A MEAT GRINDER. Long time COWBOYS fan and I never really respected him after what he did on our field when he played for the 49ers. I did applaud him the season after he "Cried". He's never been a team player, has bad hands, bad attitude, bad breath. I play Madden Football on with my sons on their X-Box system. I always pick the cowboys to play with, and I dont even throw him the ball! We dont need him ruining our new stadium. Just glad Mrs.PacMan went first, now its time for SPONGEBOB OWENS!!!! SEE YA!
