Earlier today, MDS informed us that the Cleveland Browns are prepared to name Eric Mangini their new head coach, replacing Romeo Crennel. This comes just two days after reports surfaced that Mangini, who had not yet been named the Browns head coach, was already beginning to assemble his staff. Well, tonight, NFL.com's Adam Schefter is reporting that Mangini -- who still hasn't officially been named the Browns head coach -- has named Rob Ryan as his defensive coordinator. Ryan had been the Raiders defensive coordinator since the 2004 season, and was apparently a favorite of owner Al Davis. During Ryan's tenure with the Raiders, their defense ranked 27th, 22nd, 3rd, 27th, and 30th, while he also had a less-than-stellar working relationship with former head coach Lane Kiffin.
He was also responsible for one of the best quotes of the season, when he informed the Oakland media that this is the "National F[reaking] Football League."

Well,my Raider friends,before weird Al hired boy Dunder Lane Kiffin,you guys had a great D.Who could coach anything with Lane Dimbo around?And with a 3 and out offense with 1200 turnovers,the poor D is left to get butchered.Anyway,here's hoping you guys get a new owner to replace that walking corpse.Can't you guys set that thing on fire? Just blame it on spontaneous combustion or something.Nobody's gonna blame ya.

Unless those numbers are for 5 individual games, that's an average of 21st overall over 5 years, 3 head coaches. W/O that "3rd" in '06, it's an average of 26th. In 2006 when our amazing D was "3rd" - we were 1st in passing D and 25th in rushing because no one needed to throw against Nnamdi - they could run like crazy down Ryan's "Silver and Black Cul De Sac" D. A stellar hire by the always stellar Browns. Glad to see him gone. Kiffin tried, but got denied - maybe Al should've listened to him. If Ryan runs more than 3 blitzes a game, he can blame Al for telling him not to do it.
Maybe we can pick up a new owner in the draft.

We hired an ( average at best ) coach & a losing defensive co-ordinator. WAAAAYYY to go guys . why turn over every rock & check out every lead to get the best .
