Stay on top of all the postseason action with FanHouse's NFL playoff coverage.
Threats of a blackout for the Minnesota Vikings' first home playoff game since 2000 have officially gone away. The team announced Saturday afternoon that they have sold their remaining tickets, and Sunday's date with the Philadelphia Eagles is now officially considered a sellout.
The team's cause certainly wasn't helped by the failing economy, and it was really hurt when some 45 percent of Viking season-ticket holders passed on playoff tickets, apparently choosing to believe that coach Brad Childress or quarterback Tarvaris Jackson would find a way to blow his team's chances.
Of course, the near-miss apparently was enough to cause Vikings owner Zygi Wilf to again complain about the team's stadium situation. That seems like a really good idea. I'm sure plenty of people in a state that is facing a huge budget deficit are going to be sympathetic to a sports owner whining for public dollars to build a new stadium.
(I don't mean to dismiss the role that the Vikings' crappy stadium plays in their struggles to sell tickets, but come on.)
Good thing they had Jared Allen make that video, huh?

The stupid idiot, does he expect the Vikings to play in a blizzard in Minneapolis???????????? Or, should it be 30 below, would that be better?

Yea 30 below would be better. Bud Grant never even allowed heaters on the sidelines but even with heaters these chumps are "one and out" and hopefully Chilly with them. When you have the number one rusher in the league and he only touches the ball 17 times per game (just over 4 touches per quarter) it's not his fault its the coach. We have had some winners nin recent memory : Les Steckle, Mike Tice, Denny Green, all pathetic losers. Im sorry I have been a fan since 65 and its all been downhill since Fran and the "people eaters" retired. What kind of idiot lets the clock tick away for 25 seconds and then calls a time out. Chilly has to go even if by some miracle we would get to the big dance.......Cowher Cowher, Cowher, Cowher.....................

I love when the owners complain they want a new stadium...WTF would I want my tax dollars spent on a stadium when I DON'T BENEFIT AT ALL FROM IT. The ticket prices will be HIGHER with a new stadium NOT lower, and do I GET A FREE TICKET BECAUSE MY TAXES PAID FOR IT?..NO ...why would i pay money for a team that consistently finds a way to draft morons and put them in leading roles (head coach, qb) and blow big games? OR HOW ABOUT NEVER WON A FING SUPERBOWL. YOU WIN A BOWL ZIGGY WE'LL TALK ABOUT A STADIUM. till then, go to hell.

Too bad they sold out. I think it would have been a fitting gesture by the fans to show how disappointing the Vikings have been since the days of Fran Tarkenton. I think the fans should have rebelled and stayed home. There is always a game on tv 60 miles away from the twin cities for those who are still waving a flag for the team that chokes constantly.

Oh I hope they just get killed tomorrow so that the next time they slide into the playoffs the fans won't bail them out again...

Hey Ziggy if you want a new stadium so bad why don't you finance it yourself. That way you could either put your name on the stadium or get a sponser to pay for the naming rights. don't expect the tax payers to bail you out when you have enough money to build the stadium yourself!!

I still remember the debate to build the HHH stadium when I was in junior high. The last time I was at the Metrodome, it was still in beautiful condition, and so clean my husband (Chicagoan) thought he could eat off the floors. Is it because the Twins are getting a new stadium? Hey, Minn fans are damned if they do or if they don't. Can someone say North Stars? One of the highest fan turnouts, but Norm Green still moved them to Texas. These owners are ultra-rich blackmailers. We want our sports teams, but every 15-20 years they hold our teams hostage unless the taxpayers give in. Ugh!

You "Vikings" fans are sounding alot like the Green Bay booger fans. "Back in the old days the Purple People Eaters and Fran would.......Kind of like "Bart Starr would have......
Get real this is a cyclical industry. No one is up forever and the teams who tend to be up more than down have a fan base which supports them unequivocally. I am NOT a big GB fan but they would have sold that stadium out 3 times in the first 24 hours. I am overjoyed the Vikings are in.
Be real careful and remember a few years back. Can you say North Stars.

New staduim?? Does the owner watch the news!! If your owner wants a new staduim tell him to go build one, get a loan from the bank. Public dollars for these things are a disgrace, especially in these economic times.

Well either way it's a crying shame. For a team owner to be graviling over a sell out its sick. He should have been a better man and bought the tickets and give them to local boys and girls clubs in the area. Maybe he should think about his fortune rather than being selfish and ignorant...Bye the way GO EAGLES......

Has this idiot actually BEEN to the Dome? It's clean and well maintained. Nothing wrong with it and I'd never agree to building another for decades to come.

I have lived in NY or NJ all of my life and I've been a Vikings fan since '67, when, Joe Kapp and that over powering defense beat Roman Gabriel and his LA Rams in the snow. Even when rumors circulated that the Menneapolis area code was being changed to 044 for their super bowl record, I was still on board. The Vikes have never ceased to dissappoint me and I don't expect this year to be any different. My only wish is that that they would win a super bowl before I die. They better work fast because time is running out.

You folks in Minnesota don't seem to appreciate how good you've got it. I've been a Viking fan my whole life but I live in Michigan. Yea, thats right, home of the Lions. 0-16 is about as a bad as it gets for any sports franchise but up until the last few games the Lions always sold out! And even in our economy here (which is worse then Minnesota's) we still managed to build a nice new facility for them to play in when the Silver Dome got archaic. Please consider what you have there and do the right thing! I would hate to see the Vikes leave.

Move the team to Oklahoma! That is where AD played his college ball and we would LOVE to fill any stadium for them.

If you bleed purple and gold, you'll always bleed purple and gold. If the ship goes down, I go down with it. If we win, we give NO quarter. Especially to namby pamby fence sitters and wagon jumpers. I'd rather lose with style than wear the colors of the flavor of the month.
I've been to the Homer Dome twice in my life and it's fine. Whoever wants a new one is a whiner. Just play football and quit 'yer bitchin'.
