Since moving to Phoenix, Arizona, the Cardinals have never hosted a playoff game. As a matter of fact, the franchise hasn't played a home playoff game since December 27, 1975 when they played in St. Louis. Shockingly, people are not flocking to view the game in person, and that could end up being the only way to see the game. With approximately 3,700 tickets remaining, the Cardinals must sell them before 2:30 Friday afternoon, or else the game will be blacked out in the greater Phoenix area, per NFL rules.
"Based on the activity we've seen over the last couple days and particularly in the last 24 hours we're very optimistic that this extension will get us where we need to be," said Ron Minegar, the team's Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.Man, I really hope so. I know Cardinals fans are out there, and they're having to endure a lot of talk about how much their favorite team doesn't even deserve to be in the playoffs. Go out and support them, it's not like a victory is out of the question. The Falcons pass defense is suspect, and the Kurt Warner to Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston connection has been stellar at home for the Cards.
It would be a shame to not sell out, especially if the Cardinals pull off the upset victory.
Update: They've done it. You may watch the game no matter where you live. Hopefully the Cards don't disappoint their fans who wanted to attend, yet simply couldn't afford it.

Maybe if they hadn't laid down for the last 2 games.....
I think you mean the last twenty seasons
I have been a Cardinals fan for at least 30 years. I am so disapponted that there are not more fans supporting the team. I went to Arizona for the Dallas game. It was easier to find Dallas stuff and Broncos stuff then it was to find cardinals stuff. Now, I hear that the game is not even near sold out. I live in VA and even though I can't really afford it I may have to go into more debt just so I can go support my team. Come on Cardinals! I love you guys! Kurt, you are the man! I don't know what you need to do to get this team fired up but I hope you all know that you do have long time dedicated fans! I will never give up on you..NEVER!
I am from wisconsin, but since we don't have a decent NFL team anymore. I have been closely following the Cardnials. Mainly because of the "greatest quarterback ever to come out of the state of Iowa", ( KURT WARNER )! Kurt will "get it done" for the Cardnials against Atlanta. Arizona 42 - 38 over the Falcons. You heard it here first!!
If they were playing the Cowboys it would be sold plum out. Of course EVERY Cowboy road game is a sell out. The haters will tell you how the Cowboys suck, but they still watch every single game. The Cowboys have more fans in Arizona than the Cards do and it's always been an NFC East rivalry. When they used to play in Sun Devil stadium it was pretty much a home game for the Cowboys. GOOD LUCK CARDS. WIN ONE FOR DAN CORYELL AND JIM HART!!
From what I understand.........in this down economy, fans just do not want to spend the bucks to support the Cards. Very sad.
I wish all the Cardinal games were always blacked out in my area so I would be able to see a good match up of teams. The non entertaining Cardinals games are broadcast even when there are much better matchups to be seen on tv.
Bah, the economy has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the sunnier states suffer from a poor fan base (e.g. Florida, Arizona, California). Do not fear Cardinal fans, your local news station will purchase the remaining seats in order to generate sufficent revenues from showing the game on TV.
Who cares. Only reason Arizona is where they are is b/c of the pizz poor division they're in. Arizona blows and Atlanta will beat them by 7.
This isn’t just a Phoenix problem; on Wednesday afternoon 3 out of the 4 NFL playoff games were facing a local blackout. With the unlikelihood of Minnesota and possibly Arizona selling the remaining tickets, there is a real opportunity for the NFL to make a gesture in these difficult economic times. They can step-up and waive the blackout rule for these 2 financially ravished areas. The public relations alone would more then supercede the 3 million dollars in lost revenue from unsold tickets. With many residents in these two areas losing their jobs and homes it would be a grand selfless act. Thoughts?
I think it's great people are saving their money and not going to these games. The fans have been shafted for years. I hope more games fail to sell out. Send the pro teams and players a message and boycott the playoffs. Pay off some creditcard debt instead.
If you go to a restaurant and receive poor service, over priced - terrible food and no apologies, are you going to go back for more? Not me. (Minnesota 34 – Cardinals 14 - Dec 14) The Cards better serve up something really good this weekend or else black 'em out all next year to.!!!
Carolina is another club that rarely hosts playoff games, so I went on the ticket exchange today looking for seats b/c i want to be there. I had NO IDEA how expensive playoff tickets are, even nosebleed seats are going for $275+, I saw a 100-level seat going for $1,030.
If Arizona tickets are that high as well, I can see why fans don't want to go. Who is going to pay that kind of money knowing their team is going to get dismantled? Please...
