You have to love the fact that Mike Shanahan is fired by the Denver Broncos yet, to some, can have his pick of the myriad of job openings around the NFL.The one that is getting the most run is Shanahan going to the Dallas Cowboys. He is cool with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, tried to get Terrell Owens to Denver and wanted Tony Romo as a college free agent (they both are Eastern Illinois alums). Though it has been a while, Shanahan has won two Super Bowls and Jerrah Jones is dying to have that kind of success.
He has also had success with young quarterbacks, like Romo, and been able to squeeze the best out of his offensive line and running backs.
One interesting subplot to this is the fact that current Cowboys had coach Wade Phillips is supposed to be keeping his job. Still, you can't put it past Jones to can Phillips for Shanahan. By the way, Shanahan got the Denver gig 14 years ago after the Broncos fired ... Wade Phillips.
Also, there has been some rumblings that the Broncos could go after current Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett for their head coaching position. Remember that Garrett was perceived as Phillips' eventual successor before a sub-par offensive showing this season.

Wow, I didn't know Mike pushed Wade out in Denver. That would be crazy if he did it twice. Having said that, it's most likely not gonna happen. Mike wants full control or at least most and when your dealing with Jerry I don't see Mike getting what he wants in Dallas. It'll be great to see what Mike could do with that team though.

Yea, but....we didn't think that Parcels would be a fit in Dallas because we thought he would want control too and that worked out.

Actually, JW, it didnt work out because Parcell's left and never even won a playoff game and frankly i think it came down to TO and Parcells, and in the end, Parcell's either said to hell with it and went to make alot of money staying of the sidelines, or Jones backed TO, or possibly both. And Eric, from what i hear, the too much control is what they say got Shanahan fired in the first place. He was the one pulling the trigger on which players they got in free agency and draft, and they werent panning out, and in the end, as ESPN put it today, Shanahan the GM got Shanahan the Coach fired. I heard alot of talk today that Shanahan, unlike Cowher, just wants to run the team, have control over players, work to get the players he wants, but not have to focus on all the details.
I think it would be a pretty good fit seeing Shanahan at Dallas. It'd be a better job than Denver, as he has the resume to impress, i think he could possibly get that locker room organized from the disaster that i think TO has started in there, and that they could make the playoffs next year, and if TO acted as he did this year, he'll be gone next year and Roy Williams will be your #1 wide receiver. The reason i think Cowher wants control is because he never had it at Pittsburgh. I think Cowher would be a pretty good fit for the Jets, as it's close to where his daughters are going to college, and it was on the verge of making the playoffs, and i dont think Favre will be back, so Cowher could draft his quarterback he wanted to mold and stick with for the future, so i wasnt suprised he turned down the Browns, but i think he really needs to consider the Jets. I dont think Cowher would be a good fit in Denver though.

Hmm-- Martz in Dallas could be a dangerous combination for the rest of the league. This Redskins fan doesn't want to see that.

Martz is easily better than Garrett! Garrett does not know how to utilize the many weapons he has, Martz had Holt, Bruce, Faulk, etc. in St. Louis and his prowess was responsible for the "Greatest Show on Turf".
Also, perhaps the Cowboys get some compensatory picks for Garret going to Detroit which could accomodate the Cowboys meager draft positioning after the Roy Williams trade. Better and more draft picks, get rid of bad coordinator, and get new improved OC sounds good to me.

SHANAhan in Dallas couldn't be any worse than Phillips, at this point I don't think anyone would be. The only thing that could help Dallas is for Jerry Jones to have a stroke and hand over control to someone else while he stayed confined to a wheelchair up in his skybox with drool running down his chin. Seriously though Dallas has major issues, I am not so sure if it is the talent or the control over the talent(discipline). After the loss to St. Louis early in the season I thought for sure in the week following that they would come together as a team and really dominate the competition, but it was just hit and miss after that. It has been a week and I haven't heard of any changes in Dallas, that is very suprising.

MS would be better than WP. Cowboys will never win a SB with WP as Head Coach.

I hope that Jerry Jones will at least consider bringing Mike Shanahan in. This option was not available when he firmly backed his current head coach (before and after their terrible loss to Philly). We all know what we were getting with Wade and I think it is ridiculous for the fans to be fed this BS about him changing how he coaches. I hope for all of the Cowboy fans that on opening day in the new stadium, Shanahan is escorting the team to the field.

Well, Parcells did his job to get the personel...he just can't coach anymore and thats one reason why he is where he's at in Miami. But, I think everyone got along or else Bill wouldn't have stuck around to help pick a coaching staff. I don't buy in on any crap the media tries to feed us with T.O. and anybody else for that matter.

Injuries is the real reason for our chemistry issues this season, even with the so call over-hyped talent we have. With that said...the coaching staff should have been able to make it work, especially against the Rams and they need to take the heat for that....Wade=out,
Shanahan=in.
Garrett out too.

It is a mystery to me and in some ways I don't care except it arrouses my couriosity. Why do the commentaters on the CBS AND FOX networks dig their spurrs into the Seattle Seahawks when they win a game? Personally I find these football commentators so CRUDE I will not allow my kids to watch it on TV. The reason that I find it so crude it has reached the point that it seems like they lowered themselves to degrading my State and every town in Washington State. When I heard that big fat African American Degrage both my Town, City, State and the Seahawks, I decided that I will never watch these degenerate Bastards again. If that is the personality trait that is brought out in a former Professional athlete, Well, never mind. No more

What The Cowboys need is a coach that has the killer instinct and comes in and tells these pre-madonna over paid bunch of sissys what it takes to be a team and win in this league. how many of these so called stars played in the special teams? how many of them really showed up to the training camp to put in what it takes to be ready for the season? they have no guts and no comradry. Who do you want to blame? the special teams coach. are you kidding me? The true answer is that everyone needs to look at them selves in the mirror and face the facts. That being said I do believe that the coaches such as Red Headed GENIUS and BUM jr are Just wrong for this team and the whole organization needs to re-evaluate the talent level and if Mr. Jones wants to sell out the remaining Season tickets for the new COW-BOWL, we as fans deserve a better product on the field than this bunch that we have now.
It is not going to be fixed untill the right moves are made, which are going to be very hard decisions as they were when he bought the team and the organization reaped the benefits for years to come. BUM OUT, RED OUT, OVER PAID OUTi.e(ROY WILLIAMS,SAFETY-PACK MAN FREAK) GET SERIOUS AND MEAN BUSINESS.
