There are some things in this world you just shouldn't say. Like going up to an extremely overweight man getting his haircut and asking if he'd like his fade "Super Sized." Or asking a person in a wheelchair for a ride. Bad idea, you look like an ass, and you shouldn't even utter the sentence. That rolls us into Detroit Lions cornerback Travis Fisher, who was chattering about the game this week against the Green Bay Packers. Unless your address is 1461 Rock and Hard Place Drive you know the Lions are 0-15, and they face off against a Packers squad that may be better than their record indicates this Sunday at Lambeau.
Fisher had a chance to say some things about the Lions. For instance -- "We really want to win this game." Or, "It would be great for the team moral if we could pull this one out in the last game of the season." He even could have gone with, "Nobody in this locker room wants to be that team to go 0-16."
Instead, he said this.
"I think we're going to shock a lot of people with a great game. I feel like we're going to win," he said. "Not to take anything away from Green Bay, but we're a great football team. I know the record doesn't show it, but I'm going to say it."The best part about this isn't how inane the statement is, it is how far off it is from EVERYONE in the NFL. A great football team? Really?
A great football team would have been the Patriots last year if they had snagged the Super Bowl and gone undefeated. Troy Aikman's Cowboys were a great football team. Steve Young had some greatness in San Francisco. John Elway and company were pretty darn great.
But the 0-15 Lions? Maybe he meant to say "eight football team." Or plate. We are a plate football team. Would it have been any more insane if he had said that? He could have called the team "plate" as an adjective, and then actually eaten a glass plate in front of the microphone, and I would be less appalled than I am right now.
I hope you have a freight rest of your day.

Ok,, Santa brought Fisher a self help book on motivation. The main objective of the book is to fool yourself into believing things are better than they are. Others call it denial, some delusional.
But hey,, Notre Dame broke their 9 game losing streak in bowls! All things are possible,, ya know?

I think he was just trynna find any way possible to give his team a boost of confidence goin into the last game of the season. Of course he went out on a limb but I don't fault him for what he attempted to do. Now we just hav to see if him making a complete ass of himslf in front of the world, actually serves its intended purpose. GO SKINS!!.......and uh, go...lions

Fisher's comment is easier to stomach than Shane Bacon's crappy writing skills.

I'm surprised Shane Bacon was able to round up enough creativity to write about the 0-15 Detroit Lions.
It's a shame idiots like Bacon don't take more than 5 minutes actually writing about things that people give a sh*t about. The Lions? It's so easy to pick on the Lions.
Be original.

If they actually did beat the Packers (pretty doubtful), then they would be 1-15. I suppose that would make them an outstanding football team!! Outstandingly BAD as opposed to disgustingly HORRIBLE!! Maybe one of the first things they should do in the offseason is find some players who are not so deluded, and who have a little more talent than the likes of Travis Fisher.

I get the drift about a complete overhaul, but I do believe that they should keep either Kitna or Culpepper if they draft a QB in the 1st round. If they somehow land Matt Cassel, then they won't need to.

Isn't this the same guy who said he'd walk home if the Lions did win this game?
Sounds to me like he knows he's going to be cut in the offseason regardless (is he any good? I never heard of him), so he figures there's no harm in him speaking his mind.
