Lost amid all the Week 17 NFL discussion is the fact that Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware is three sacks away from setting a new league record. Ware heads into Sunday's game against the Eagles with 20; Michael Strahan owns the current mark of 22.5. (Sacks have only been an official statistic since 1982.)The Cowboys' official web site, however, makes an important point:
But unlike that year, when then-Packers quarterback Brett Favre basically took a knee to give Strahan his final sack for the record, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is still fighting for a playoff spot and is unlikely to be as accommodating.Yes, Favre handed Strahan the record in a moment that didn't speak well for either of those future Hall of Famers. It would be nice to see Ware set the sack record in a meaningful fashion, and although three sacks in a game isn't easy, Ware has done it two of the last four weeks. We could see that record fall on Sunday.

Cowboys need to get MATT CASSEL!!! Hes going to be a free agent and I believe he would be a huge asset to the Cowboys. Romo has had his chances to prove himself. Throwing the ball the way he's been doing isnt going to get the COwboys to the Super Bowl

Finally someone who gets it!!! I've been telling people for a while now that as long as Romo is the quarterback of the cowboys, they ain't going nowhere!! That moment a few years back during the playoffs when I saw Romo flub a snap when the game was on the line, I knew right then that he had the Bledsoe syndrome. He won't come through when it's on the line. Since I'm from Boston I don't know if I want to see Cassel leave, but I do agree that Romo won't get it done for the Cowboys! Mahan, you understand!!

You can always tell a Cowboy hater by ignorant comments like these two. If both became available TODAY as free agents, who do you think NFL teams would take: Eli Manning or Tony Romo? If you picked Eli Manning......well, you're a retard.

Romo is just like Danny White QB/P(76-88)He will win games but no championship! I've been a boys fan for more than 30 years and this teams has as much talent as any boys team, But with Romo they will not go very far,

Romo may not be the answer, but slow your roll on the Cassel savior talk...he has played impressively this year, but you have to admit, the pats have benefited greatly from playing weak ass teams (look at who they have beat)...lets see how Cassel does when he is starting for the Lions next year...

If this team can focus and put there differences aside I do not think anyone can touch them. They just, I am afraid, are not a discipline enough team to do this. I hope I am wrong and just playing devils advocate to myself!! lol

Hey Romo you're on the front line once again. lets see if you can pull off the big one. But I agree start looking for a backup before all the talent leaves this team.

Interesting opinion about the 'Boys going after Cassel. Unfortunately (and I say this as a lifelong Cowboys fan), doing that would be the same as Jerry Jones admitting that he made a mistake by putting all his eggs in the Romo basket. Right, that'll happen.

I keep seeing this reference to Favre laying down for Strahan. The problem with that is, Favre could have tried any evasion technique you can imagine and nothing would have gotten him away from Strahan. He laid down to avoid getting injured, not to do Strahan a favor.

Uncle Mikey, P-U-T D-O-W-N T-H-E C-R-A-C-K-P-I-P-E and back away! Anyone who saw that play, even an idiot, will admit that Favre laid down. Strahan is probably embarrassed by the way he got the record, by the way (if he is the class player I believe he is).

Ditto. I saw the game. I do not like the Giants or the Packers and I had to laugh at the lack of courage and gamesmanship Favre showed when he laid down for Strahan. I am not insulting Strahan. It is not his fault that Favre is the most overrated player in the entire history of the NFL and displayed this kind of cowardly behavior.

Romo is no mistake. As long as Jerry acts as GM , the cowboys will be nothing but a soap opera.

That's kind of a laughable argument. The 'Boys have won three Super Bowls with Jones at the GM. I am not a Jerry Jones fan by ANY means, but I am a huge Cowboys fan. Now, about all this Romo talk. I can understand everyones frustration, but the man does make his living throwing the football. Remember, he did break a finger on his throwing hand!!

I guess everyone forgot the beating Romo took this year - broken finger, and hits by the Giants that had his back so bad he couldn't walk the next day! I think, if healthy, this team can beat anyone (Marion Barber would help take a little pressure off Tony) Let's all pray Tony is healthy enough to get the win this Sunday!!!
And Maybe Strahan did get an easy sack for the record but don't forget they (Green Bay) was double and triple teaming him the whole game to prevent that record sack until Favre had a change of heart.

I'm not saying Favre shouldn't have tried, but by the time he started to react to Strahan he was a half second from being crushed. He should have tried, but it wouldn't have made any difference.

Then we agree, Favre should have tried. I am SO disappointed in the way this sure-fire first ballot HOF'er has turned out - a snivelling, whiney cry-baby, with a sense of entitlement I haven't seen since Fran Tarkenton sullied NFL playing fields.
