The now 0-14 Lions have many believing that a winless season is not only possible, but probable. This is 0for08, FanHouse's eye on the Detroit Lions and their quest for a winless season.
Joey Harrington, the one-time Lions quarterback of the future and third overall pick, had a rough go of it in Detroit. The on-field product was pretty lousy, and eventually the media, fans, and even his teammates (not to mention Tony Siragusa) turned against him. The Joey Harrington days in Detroit could hardly be described as halcyon.
Since, Harrington has populated the depth chart in Miami, Atlanta, and now New Orleans, where he's the third quarterback for the Saints and, thus, standing on the sideline opposite of the one he owned when the Fords handed him a chunk of their auto empire earnings. But it's funny how time changes perception.
In a display of exactly how pitiful the Lions are this year, fans in attendance at today's Saints-Lions game began chanting Harrington's name with nary a trace of irony (this was sincere longing). The entire city of Detroit was desperate to rid itself of Harrington not too long ago, but if you offered them the trade-off of the simply below-average Harrington-led Lions or the 0-fer bound Lions of 2008, well, it's obvious their choice. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone, indeed.

Detroit sucks, the Lions suck, the Ford family sucks. How is it that the Ford's own the Lions... and the Ford logo is on the banner for the Cowboys?? They're losing BIG money on the cars, the Lions haven't been good since... since... well, they haven't been good since Bobby Lane in the late 50's (leather helmets and high-top cleats)..... 2 weeks ago, I saw a T.O. interview in front of the Cowboys logo, right next to the FORD Motor Company logo on the SAME backdrop... C'mon BIll Ford, spend Ford advertising dollars on the Lions and get SOMETHING right. Why doesn't he just SELL the Lions??? Does he even GO to the games? If he DOES, he should be ashamed for fielding such a crappy team. If he DOESN'T, he should STILL be ashamed for fielding such a sorry team. He exhibits absolutely NO pride whatsoever. No surprise that Ford Motor Co. is in trouble... look at the level of commitment of excellence to a team they bought in the early 60's (had the team long enough to get it right). It is representative of the management excellence Ford Motor Co. practices. Then, to fix the team, he hires Matt Millen... ok, THAT should be enough for the NFL to force Ford to sell the team for being derelict - period. They say for every bad draft it takes 3 years to recover... so we have 25 + years to fix what Millen did... I hope I am still alive when they start to win again. They COULD go 0-16 again next year while they "rebuild"... Geez that's kind of a joke too... rebuild what?

Detroit fans just be glad you are not a NY Jet fan. This is without a doubt the worst organization in the NFL. These people no idea or heart. They are were lucky to beat Miami , KC and needed a last second miracle to beat Buffalo. They lost to Oakland , Denver ,San Fran and Seattle. The latter 3 teams AFTER they beat Tenn and NE .They will lose to Miami next week to complete the disgrace.
I don't know who selected Eric Mangini as the head coach but he should be tarred , feathered and made to walk the length of Broadway. He SUCKS. I would rather know that our team has no chance then to be showed the best and then blow it in November and Dec year after year.
Its a shame you don't play the Jets this year , you would have your win.
Merry Christmas from a irate Jet fan.

You guys just don't understand the heart of the lion. In the face of 50-60 years of incompentent ownership and a bunch of years at the mercy of schuks like Matt Millon; that the Lions can come out and make most weeks competitive is a miracle. Try putting out for a losing organization against all odds.....it isn't easy. Hats off to the Lions who put it out there every weekend. Best of luck in the off season and next year. Go Lions! John

What a mess, the Owner, the Coach, the front Office. Lets see how the Lions will screw up the Draft. Who in their right mind would want to go to the Lions. Baltimore had to trade Elway when he had no desire to go to the Colts. William Clay Ford is a crook at the expense of the Lions fans. He has no interest in having a winning organization. Until a New Owner comes in this mess will never change.

I have emailed the Lions repeatedly asking if it was Joey's fault they still sucked.
Never got an answer.
Joey underachieved during his stint there, I am beginning to understand why.

I know how Lions fans feel about Joey Harrington's departure from Detroit to New Orleans as the Saints third string quarterback. When several Saints players went to other teams by free agency they prospered and the local media blamed the ownership and coaches for not getting the best of the former Saints players while they were in New Orleans.

The Lions slide to the bottom started when they drafted Joey. I hope they don't draft a quarterback with the first pick.
