Keyshawn Johnson says a lot of things that are relatively unimportant. But as far as ESPN Sunday morning analysts go, he's not that bad. Still, it's probably a bit aggressive to dog Jake Delhomme the way he did this morning, considering that he was on the Panthers for all of, oh, one year.I don't trust Jake [Delhomme]. I've played with him. He's a good guy and everything, but in this situation he'll try to do too much if they put the ball in his hands, try to throw hand grenades like in Green Bay.Well, obviously Key missed that whole "Smash and Dash" thing -- you know, where the Panthers run the ball about 40 times to wear the defense down and let Jake do his thing on third down if he has to, while picking spots to hit Steve Smith downfield.
Additionally, it's not like Jake hasn't taken a Panthers team to the Super Bowl or performed at an All-Pro level -- he has. And to further the point, if the Panthers put the ball in Jake's hand tonight, well, that's just plain stupidity on the coaching staff's part; the plan, as far as anyone should be concerned, is nothing more than a heavy dose of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.

It's hard to trust Jake he takes risks...but someone told me that "if you are not a risk taker you are not a money maker" Jake needs to not turn the ball over so much...Go Panthers!
Keyshawn's opinions are worthless.
This is coming from a guy who cut his routes off when he was in Carolina...Jake couldn"t trust you..either...
I love Carolina to death. I have been a fan for every year of their existence. But Keyshawn's comments are warranted and worthwhile. Jake has proven to be an ok QB. To win Super bowls in the NFL ok isn't good enough. Jake's mistakes consistently keeps the defense on the field way too long, and with Steve Smith, I could play QB and make as many reception passes as Jake. Watch Jake closely, most of his passes are not thrown at the receivers, the receivers run to his passes. Way too inconsistent, not a precision passer, not a Super bowl caliber QB. Carolina truly needs to go QB shopping!
If I remember correctly, Keyshawn sucked in Carolina. But of course it wasn't his fault. It was Jake's fault. Yea. Yea. Yea. Someone like Keshawn will never admit to being the problem. People like him are always going to blame someone else. People like him and T.O. and Randy Moss simply aren't team players and cry like little babies if the ball doesn't land directly in their hands 50 times a game. Yes, catching a ball on the run even if it's laid directly in your hands is difficult at best, I'd much rather have someone with the attitude that's willing to reach out and grab it from all directions. Those are the good receivers. The crybabies aren't. They're just overpaid crybabies. Although, I do have to admit that Mr. Moss excelled with Brady tossing him creampuffs all season (last year).
The thing about Delhomme is that he's a team player in every sense of the word. The whole team is full of team players. Even Smith, as good as he is is a team player. You know, Jake has given so much to Carolina football. It seems like the average Jake basher wants a John Elway or Drew Brees at the position. But the thing is, they don't fit in with the philosophy of a bruising control the clock offense combined with an (for the most part) effective defense. For the type of offense the powers that be wish to implement in Carolina, Jake is among the elite, and Keyshawn and others of his ilk can just go take a long walk off a short pier. Crying like the babies they are the whole way.
I agree with David above. Team player, and more importantly, team leader Jake Delhomme "trusted" Keyshawn and threw the ball to him in spite of his missing catches in the middle of his hands or alligator arms.
