The RCA Dome was home of the Indianapolis Colts for 24 years. They won a Super Bowl, they ushered in the Peyton Manning era and they even built a snazzy Ring of Honor. Ohh. Ahh. And then today, it went a dynamite-like "BOOM" as the city of Indianapolis imploded it. Awesome video below.
This is the point in time in which it stinks that Manning became a non-choker because otherwise, I'd have a free "Collapsing faster than Peyton" joke. Oh well. RIP RCA.

Beth--apparently, the Colts moving to Indy must have justified the city of Baltimore then going out and stealing the Browns from Celevland.

We should have kept the dome and invested all that money in a back up for manning because once he is done so are the colts :(
Poor guy has to do all the work these days....even with a bum knee and no run game to back him up at all.

If we could raise the same amount of money it takes to build new stadiums for professional sports teams every twenty years or so, (and demolish and haul away the "old" stadium), we could provide thousands of people from going hungry and / or doing without health care when they are acutely in need OR build and maintain our schools, etc. We are a very screwed up country in terms of our priorities !!!

1st off, the new building of the Lucas Oil Stadium CREATED more jobs for people because it has more service areas as well as increasing the amount people will spend to fund local area charities. Second, the implosion of the RCA (Hoosier) dome ALSO has created jobs for people. In the long run, the new stadium is GOOD for the economy of Indianapolis. Get over yourselves about not building new schools, etc. Again, a great deal of the people who work the concessions are part of some kind of school orginization raising money for themselves.

the RCA dome was a hugh joke that backfired on the people of indy. it never operated in the black when under control of the state, then just varely in the red after RCA corp took control. as far as indy needing a new stadium, it doesn't! the the state and the tax payer's can not afford it. and this crap about new job's, BS! the local politican's and business will be the only benifact.r

The owners swept the Colts to Indy @ 3AM and even the city of Baltimore did not know. Likewise the Cleveland Browns owner swept his team to Baltimore. Johnny "U" played his entire career under the Colts and Don Shula in Baltimore.
NOBODY stays in the same team in pro sports anymore, NOBODY. It is all about MONEY. With 50-60" high def TV's, who needs to go the games. Stay home and enjoy it with family and friends. Teams want fans, but they want money more.........

Sorry but I am a fan of both Indy and Balt. Johnny U did not spend his whole time in Baltimore, He was drafted by the Steelers in 55 and did not play. Then came to the colts in 56 to 72 and then was traded to the San Dieago Chargers in 73 and had three diffrent coaches in Weeb Ewbank, Don Shula and Don McCafferty.
Unitas hated the colts after they left but loved Peyton. If they moved again(please no, I don't think I could take another) I would probably move with them!!!!

Here in Houston, a lot of people have had good ideas about a new future for the Astrodome - but none of them are in positions to do anything about it. My idea would have been to turn it into a hotel WITHIN a rain-forest paradise atrium. My prediction? Within 15 years, Reliant Stadium will sadly stand alone as the Astrodome goes the way of the long-vanished AstroWorld.
