Yesterday I mentioned that Santana Moss got slapped with a post-touchdown excessive touchdown celebration penalty after he thought it would be great fun to use a towel to clean his shoes in the end zone. Everybody knows that a towel is considered a prop. Okay, nobody knew that, but anytime someone scores a touchdown and lingers in the end zone, there's a pretty good chance it'll draw a flag. I'm not saying it's right, that's just how Roger Goodell rolls. In Moss' case, the offense was particularly idiotic because a) the Redskins were battling for their playoff lives, and b) they were trailing the sad-sack Bengals 17-6 at the time.
Washington would go on to lose, prompting Jim Zorn to call himself the "worst coach in America." Moss, who was probably also embarrassed by the loss, was indifferent about the end zone penalty.
"I don't care, I really don't care," he said, when asked if he knew his celebration would draw a flag. "We needed something, something to boost us, and we had a touchdown so I was feeling real good, you know what I'm saying? Other than that, I really don't care about it. What we needed to do is keep scoring."Not caring aside, Moss is right: the Redskins needed to keep scoring. Unfortunately, they couldn't muster much offense against an injury-ravaged one-win team, which tells you all you need to know about the current state of Washington's offense. Godspeed, Bill Cowher.

Celebration is fine, at least one player has some spirit. The true problem is that the offense let off the gas. I thought the O Line looked pretty good. Jason Campbell can not lead this team. Yes coaching has something to do with it but I know its Campbells attitude no one likes playing hard for this kid. You can see it happen when the momentum dies fast its because hes flat. Zorn you take a little beating its ok, your a rookie too. But we saw some upside, now you need to deal with adversity and fast. Look back on last year when campbell went down. Uhhh they went undefeated, I still think someone upstairs thought there was someone better behind him. Just because he was a first rounder. Did you see how the team played when Collins was in. Moral was through the roof. Campbell will only be good for the Patriots because the coach there will pund you into a winner. But in Washington we need the ones that were born to take over and take wins not try kind of with a baby face on the hole time. Zorn Keep your head up, JC play pissed off, Portis cool your head I know its tough, recievers your days are coming, Jason Taylor you are the worst investment I have seen since Mercedes bought Chrystler, good job Vinny. Randle El earn your paycheck. You get paid more than some of the best recievers out there. Vinny get the F*$# out of Washington your a hack and you have destroyed building a long term team. JT for two draft picks shoot I wouldnt trade him for a stick of butter. Rookie class looks good, coaches please keep working them hard and teaching them.

Wow, Daniel V. I agree with just about everything you said. Especially remarks about Campbell in particular his on field leadership. He seems to have no fire. Oh, I have seen a determined face once or twice but it is when the game is just about out of reach. He mopes around the field, and when he gets sacked there is no fire to get back up, he just sits there, unlike other QB's that get mad and then wrok on matriculating the ball downfield. Sure there are O-line problems, it is a group of five men, there are weaknesses to every line. The question is, what can be done to help the line. Isn't it easier to replace one guy (i.e. Campbell) that's struggling than 2, 3 or 4? Besides, Collins didn't have this much trouble with the line last year. Colt didn't have trouble moving the team with this offensive scheme working with back-ups in pre-season, but Campbell does with the starters. The thing Bill Walsh liked most about Montana was not his mind nor his arm, nor his leadership but his foot quickness. All the great West Caost guys have had it, Montana, Young, Hasselbeck, Garcia, and even the critics of McNabb have to say that when he wants to elude sacks he has the ability to buy a lot of time while looking down field. Campbell cannot do that. Kudos to him for sticking the ball away and running with it, but that is not the same thing. Campbell seems like a nice guy, a smart guy, and is maybe a good locker room teammate but Campbell does not have the foot quickness nor a quick enough delivery to play in the West Coast passing game. Like Rypien, Chris Miller and others he would excel as a pocket passer with a great line and running game. He can play qb in this league but like you said Daniel it would have to be with someone like the Pats or even the Titans. So the question is do we continue this obviously failing experiment and sacrifice the rest of the team and tick off the fans or do Dan and Jim wake up. Think of the lost revenue right now after a 6-2 start, when we were being called one of the best in the league. Do you think there are a lot of jerseys selling now? Would like to see Zorn get an opp. to fix this but not if it means we are stuck with Campbell.

You are completely out of your mind. These were some of the stupidest things I have ever heard a Redskin fan say. You sound more like a undercover Cowboy fan. If you had any sense you would be able to see that it was Jason that led us to the 6-2 record in the first half of the season. The problem is coach Zorn needs to step on and get his receivers open. It doesn't matter if Tom Brady is the quarterback if the receivers aren't posing a threat to the defense then everything else shuts down. As for last years run Coach Gibbs did just what he had to do to open up the passing game enough to make teams respect the great S. Moss & Randel El. Until Zorn opens up the deep passing game to back those DB's up off the line then the GREAT Portis will not be able to run and the point production will stay low. This problem has nothing to do with Jason, he has one of the best long balls in the game but very rely gets to use it. Coach Zorn needs to open up the offence and unleash all the talent this teams has to give. Remember a caged animal can't fight back and the Redskins right now are caged animals just waiting to be unleashed. GO REDSKINS ALL DAY EVERYDAY!!! We are the heart of the EAST lets unleash these BEASTS.

Well said David, His release is lathargic and his motor skills are not quick, there is a lot of stride and process to his pocket skills and release. Our system is built for a 3 to 4 seconds passer. I question Jasons vision more than I do anything else. And Montana your right he always kept his team in the game, I bet if you pulled his pocket time from snap to the release it was about 3.8 to 4.4 seconds, which shows vision, motor skills and predicting the defense. Jason I have noticed takes 1.5 seconds to set up and throw. Defenses beat the redskins by shutting down the run and leaving the team one dimensional which leaves Campbell to take the game back under control, which eve Warren Sapp said if they expect Jason to lead them to victory, GOOD LUCK. Everyone knows this. At least you can see what makes up a great QB, I see trends of that in Colt. Forget that Bowl game that made him lose a first round bid. It was Haw. vs Georgia and come on that OLIne vs that DLIne he was getting mauld. But at least he had the guts to fight. plus they didnt have a running back.

Man, i like JC but i must agree that this is not the place 4 him-a great O-line he does need in order 2 b effective-his hesitation 2 throw the damn ball is killing him and our play-off chances and almost killed Santana too on that year late slant pass in the bungels game-O-line is not great but collins(who closely resembles a statue or a snail(u pick) when it comes to movement) had fewer problems with the O-line and no problems pulling the trigger-again- i like JC but if we lose to philly then bring on colt and lets see what he can do, huh?

Skins fan 6-2 with the number 5 defense and number 1 rusher look at JC tds. Exacally what TDs, you must be crazy to think that JC was the reason that the skins where 6-2. Teams couldnt stop our run, now they can and JC cant carry the team. It also proves that you dont know enough about football to sit and truly evaluate a qb. if the receivers are both deep threats and that fast why does Campbell hold on to the ball that long on short routes. Maybe can cant anticpate the routes. There has to be a huge window for JC to trust himself. 3 and outs shows that the QB is having a hard time converting passes and that the plays are predictable to the defense. Redskins fan yes but I understand football well enough to notice true problems, I m not some oblivious blogger that heart above his head. ANd the best long balls, good for him so did Kyle Boller, hahaha looks like you know what your talking about plus do you really see JC winning a SUper Bowl.

I see him getting one a lot sooner than either Collins or Brennan.
For everyone that wants to look back to last year, please remember that Collins had been in that offense for a long time, dating back to KC. Because I'll be the first to say that if Saunders had stayed Collins should have started, but when he left so did Collins' advantage.
Also, please remember that Brennan was "moving" the ball against a lot of guys that aren't even in the league. The O-Line is in desperate need of being rebuilt. And the injuries certainly didn't help it.
And also when a Defense is playing 8 in the box, they tend to clog up a lot of the West Coast Offense's primary pass routes.
The main problem with the Redskins is that they have no offensive identity. Are they a passing team? Are they a run it down your throat team? I haven't seen either the last half of the season.
And hey it could be worse you could be waiting on Vince Young or Matt Leinart.

You are all a little right and a little wrong. Jason Campbell has the personality of a wet mop and couldn't spark the offense with a Bic lighter. Portis and Moss are great players who need to get their ego in check and play ball. For all his ranting last week Portis comes out and drops the ball on a critical play. Dan Snyder changes coaches like underwear. With all due respect, Joe Gibbs couldn't turn this team around. Dan has been a bad luck charm for this team. You can't buy a super bowl....it must be worked hard for and earned.

Jason Campbell is the same quarterback he was when he played college football-really hot when he's doing well.....but even more cold when he's having a bad day.
He has never impressed me as a good athlete or a smart quarterback.....reminds me of the bum we got rid of with the Saints three years ago....couldn't make it in the NFL; but Jim Haslett, who is a poor judge of talent, thought Aaron Brooks could save the New Orleans Saints franchise........WRONG!!

Moss- I know the team is a little down right now, but come on man...15 yard penalty and you knew what was on the line??? You are an awesome reciever and should be playing follow the leader with Devin and Malcom. Don't show them you don't care. It trickles down dude. I know you probably don't care, but Redskins nation has your back 120% of the time. We need you man. Just keep playing hard and don't worry about nothin else.

Its poor behavior like that of Moss that has made me become disgusted with sports in general. Blacks dominate most sports today and with this change came the introduction of black culture into sports. Sportsmanship, modesty, and role models have been replaced with taunting, swearing, spitting, unsportsman-like conduct, and obnoxious sexual victory dances or jestures. So much has changed in the world for the worst including sports. I do not watch any sports anymore because of the poor behavior and find them unentertaining today. This type of obnoxious behavior is applauded by the black community and encouraged. I used to think crime was committed by low income individuals, but athletes who earn millions have proved me wrong. I am sure I am not in a minority when I say I am not impressed with the arragance and showboating that these black athletes exhibit.

I agree that Campbell is the problem. He stands back in the pocket like he has all the time in the worldl He doesn't. Our line can't protect him at all. We should trade Jason campbell or todd collins for a couple of draft picks and develop Colt as the futuree starter
