Barry Sanders is, in my mind, possibly the greatest running back of all time. Certainly there's a case to made against me suggesting that, since I'm under 30 years old and wasn't cognizant of much more than drool for the majority of Walter Payton's prime. But, hey, I saw Emmitt Smith. And Sanders was way better. So it shouldn't be surprising that his son, Barry Sanders, Jr., is pretty decent. Enjoy the touchdown run.
Now, apparently Junior is already bigger than his dad, but I'm not sure that's entirely to his advantage -- after all, Sanders' smallish size, coupled with his shiftiness and power was what made him so dangerous. Still, if J-R can live up to half of what his dad was, we're all in for a treat.

Looks a little slow, especially considering that was high school ball. He barely had a step on the pursuing mike. He may not be playing up to this true speed yet, though.

Keep in mind he is a freshman so he is 14... that kid chasing him was most likely junior or senior so 17 or 18

Barry Sanders, Man ! He was the best running back I ever seen, To bad he got stuck with the lowly Lions, He would have had many , Many, more yards with any other team, I loved to watch that man move, Some day we may see his equal, Too bad for me at 70 I may not get the chance, Go Barry !

Jim Brown was great . The difference is that Jim Brown was bigger then most of the defensive linemen back when he played. I have a lot of respect for Jim Brown talents and accomplishments but Barry was the best ever.

Barry Sanders in my opinion is the best pure running back, however, I would say Walter Payton was the best all around running back that I have seen with Emmitt Smith a close second.
Doug, Barry Sanders did not get "stuck" with the Lions. They drafted him (which was their right). After almost not being able to sign him, they did consider trading him (which thankfully they didn't). The Lions were not "lowly" (as you put it ) for very long after they had him. They had quite a few winning seasons with him playing for them. If you will (or can) recall the 1991 season, the Lions came within a win of reaching the Super Bowl. With another team Barry Sanders may not have played as much because of the score thus reducing his overall yardage (although I'm sure he would have scored over 100 touchdowns).
James, the Lions did have an offensive line for Barry to run through (Lomas Brown, Bill Fralic, Dave Lutz, Dave Richards Juan Roque, Mike Utley, etc.) for most of his years although granted the Lions needed to (and stiil do) pay more attention to their much neglected lines. Go Barry and Go Lions!!
