Giants Official Confirms What Most of Us Suspected: Plaxico Burress Is a Selfish Idiot

You may have heard something about the Giants suspending Plaxico Burress for the rest of the season after he blew a hole in his leg at a Manhattan nightclub last weekend. He's facing criminal charges for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and, in theory, could face three-and-a-half years in the slammer.

This morning, on ESPN's NFL Countdown, Chris Mortensen has more on the whole sordid affair.

"... Burress is a heckuva player, but this is a team that lost Tiki Barber and won a Super Bowl. Then they've lost Michael Strahan, Jeremy Shockey, Osi Umenyiora, and what -- they're 12-1.

So, as I encountered a Giants source -- a very high-ranking source there -- I asked him about Plaxico's future, he gave me a very simple answer and I'm going to read it straight:

'How many times does an individual get to put a whole organization through the stuff he's put us through, and you know only part of it -- it's mind-boggling. The organization is guilty of only one thing: helping somebody repeatedly who refuses to help themselves.'"

Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, who was with Burress at the time of the shooting and stashed the weapon, faced obstruction charges earlier this week but has since agreed to cooperate with authorities. Mort spoke of Pierce's future, too.

"The same Giants source said any notion [Pierce] should be in trouble for his actions is 'a joke.' To paraphrase, Pierce saw a bleeding Plaxico, used common sense, he got his friend to a hospital in a hurry.

Let's even say that Pierce is indicted or charged with something -- which it doesn't appear to be the case -- the NFL will let due process run its course before deciding whether disciplinary action is appropriate. That means Pierce is active with the team for the regular season and the postseason."

So, basically, Mort confirms what most of us suspected: Plax is an idiot. And not just the garden-variety jacknut, he's also selfish.

In the process, Mort confirmed he was an idiot. The Giants are 11-1, not 12-1.

But check back at around 4:00 and perhaps his statement will prove more accurate.

What I can't understand is why a grown man making MILLIONS of $ can be such a plain JACKASS is beyond me. Yes as you can well imagine I am talking about Buress. Carrying an illegal weapon loaded to a place where you will be drinking is being a complete moron. I know money doesn't make you intellegent but son of a bitch you should have a little more brains than a 2 year old damn it. As we have found out he is definitly not a team player and as far as I am concerned he is not needed on the GIANT roster. It seems like the Dallas faries will hire anybody on theitr team as long as they can use him or HER even felons. I can understand a friend ( Antonio Pierce ) trying to help,( who just shot himself )to get him to a hospital. I dont think throwing the book at Buress is right either he only shot himself and wasnt taking the gun to shoot anybody. Damn murderers get off with less than 15 years with good lawyers so I don't know where the Mayor of NY wants the book thrown at Buress. He must be a Jet fan. Also he ought to look around at some of his friends in Polotics and then open his mouth.
