A month ago today Barack Obama became the first African-American to win a presidential election. And this week, another glass ceiling has been broken: the NFL has its first female player. At least according to Matt Hasselbeck, who on Tuesday took part in the NFL's "Play 60" program, which encourages young folks to get at least 60 minutes of exercise each day.
The Seahawks quarterback showed up at Issaquah (WA) Middle School to spread the good word, and to also answer a few questions. This one was easily the best of the bunch.
"Do you think girls should be allowed to play in the NFL?" one girl asked.Well played, sir.
"Girls can play in the NFL. Ben Roethlisberger plays for the Steelers, right?" Hasselbeck said, in a playful flashback to Seattle's Super Bowl loss three seasons ago.
"Joking. Totally joking. That was a joke," Hasselbeck said, chuckling.
I have this vision of Roethlisberger reading Hasselbeck's answer and furrowing his brow before responding, "I don't get it." And then he'd promptly return to eating paste. Of course, Hasselbeck's implying that the Seahawks lost Super Bowl XL to a team quarterbacked by a girl, and maybe that's why the officials were so eager to guarantee a Steelers victory. Arlen Specter, no doubt, is on the case.
If nothing else, Hasselbeck gets points for being funny. Plus, unlike Fred Smoot, who visited a Northern Virgina elementary school last month, at least Hasselbeck wasn't spreading a message of hate.

I still dont get it and I am guessing that even if I did, I wont think its funny either. Ben is a lot of things, both superior and sometimes not so great, on and off the field. But not sure I have ever heard/read/noticed anything effeminite about him?

Says a lot about Hasselbeck if he thinks he was beaten by a girl.

First Drive: pick for six!
Hahaha! Should have stayed as Favre's career back up, because dude is gutless and has accomplished nothing as a starter in the NFL. The "girl" had accomplished more in 2 seasons than he has in 10.

Why is Hasselbeck smiling, his team has lost nine games and he has a career ending injury just waiting to happen?
Oh my mistake, he is smiling because they managed to win two and he now has a way to get out of Seattle.

Apparently, he is also smiling as he reflects on his fantasy of Ben as a girl.

Actually, I would totally expect milquetoast edginess from such an unremarkable passer. I have a feeling this brand of PG-rated fluff is what passes for humor in the Hasslebeck household...

So Hesselbeck is saying "Yeah, even if the Steelers put in Hanna Montana at quarterback, we still would have gotten our asses handed to us" HEY maybe that's what happened and the Seattle fans are just pissed that the refs didn't call a ' achybreaky Cyrus' penality. It's been 3 years, you'd think Seattle would accept defeat.

No, trust me, Seattle fans can admit defeat. But when the "Squeelers" were beaten in every stat, except score, including qb rating, it is hard to imagine that the four bs or non-calls had nothing to with the outcome. Your an idiot and a football dumb-a** to think otherwise. With all the "Bus is coming home for his final game" crap, did anyone really expect a different outcome? They were handed the game, and like most Pissburgh Squeeler fans, Toothlessberger was the reason they won, right? The only thing less than his qb rating that game is his IQ.

Waa-Waa-Waa! Hasnoback(bone) is still cryin' over losin' YEARS ago? What an undeniably wussy douche! Who does the transgender quarterback of the Seattle Shehawks think she is goin' the second-grade-humor-route on a MAN who has survived the bodily torture Ruthlessbugger has? Playing through pain and injury?
She (Hasnoback) AND her coach CHUMLEY THE WALRUS are the two biggest whiners in the inferior NFC Wuss(t) coast, or any division/conference, PERIOD!
As for the "eating paste" comment the author-douche made; to call the statement a spontaneous eruption from the mouth of a retardate would do disservice to the mentally-challenged. [Of which, NO, I am NOT one! (anticipating the obvious response which you are more intellectually inclined to make)]
I cannot make judgement on Ben's IQ, football or otherwise, but "It don't take a Rhodes Scholar to win a Superbowl!" The Steelers won vs. Seattle OUTRIGHT! Without the (NOT) "controversial" TD.
So, sour grapes vint unpalatable WHINE!
Having two Super Bowl Ring-Bearers as close accquaintances, (from the Pats AND Stillers) I've heard the story on Hasnoback. Only confirming that his "joke", which was as unfunny as Steve Avery's mental vomitus, is on himself: his marriage! STEEL IS FOR REAL!

To all you football intellects: Im not crying about the hawks losing the s-bowl. what I am saying is you have to be an idiot to buy into all the Toothlessberger (motorcycle wreck) is a great QB. I am tired of reading and hearing about it. He wouldnt have to play hurt if he could get rid of the ball. Seven sacks to the Eagles? DUH!! I am busting the NFL's a** about allowing what is supposed to be the pinacle of football to turn into a predictable, boring, and controversial "game". Stats are stats, thats all I said. The only people that say that game was won outright are Pissburgh fans, like MR. C7, David, who cannot possibly see thru their yellow and black jaded glasses. You idiots are the ones who could not find the humor in hassel-is-back comments. I am glad the Rams went away, the patriots went away, and waiting for the squeelers to go away. The Giants are truly an organization with class. But I will be glad when they go away. Oh, and C7, now that you have puked up that Steeler crap, wipe your face with that cute, piss yellow terrible towel.
